Default Locking Ancient Threads?

As much as I love going through the old archives of Wiremod to see how much wire has progressed... some people can't refrain from touching them and raising them from the dead... obviously this can be irritating and can potentially pollute the thread entirely.

So to prevent that from happening and keeping irrelevant (or outdated) information from causing confusion/misunderstanding, threads more than oh.... 2-3 MONTHS old should be locked from changes.

Wire & Gmod progress very quickly and very few things that worked a few months ago, work with stuff now (specifically saves and dupes) as the components have changed. So I don't see the harm it doing it automatically.

It's just irritating has hell to goto a thread that looks interesting and find out someone necroposted on a thread that was more than a YEAR old...

But that's just me

Pointless things that are pointless, are pointlessly pointless, therefore pointlessness is pointless.
So pointlessly pointing out the pointlessness of this pointless signature is utterly pointless.

Maybe some threads become irrelevant, but many don't, you posted this after seeing the 1024 pixel camera thread bumped, but atleast what I was talking about is still completely relevant now, the 1024 pixel screen still doesnt have rgb inputs

I don't think locking old threads is really helpful as we would just see more reposts, warning users (such as Hitman271) who bump them with pointless posts to annoy people would be far more useful.

well even if it the screen didn't have rgb inputs, that's where a new thread comes in and would be better than bringing one back from 07

edit: i wasn't being mean to BP, but it was all his dead threads that were being posted in :P

That is like Facepunch's stupid auto-archiving. It's annoying and retarted :/.

Perhaps, but they usually pertain to basic or origional systems, the dupes and saves will not work if they're more a couple months old... hence not much use.

Also the bugs and quirks have been worked out and new ones created... so using them to solve a problem would be pretty useless as well...

Assumptive and Incorrect, period.

I posted this after seeing several threads (including but not limited to BPs) that were necroposted, this is irritating. RARELY do any of those old posts have relevant information for the CURRENT version of wire as it stands.

Possibly, I have seen several posts that keep coming up, but that is because the wire wiki is emaciated and damn near useless... I quit using it after seeing the stark and gaping holes... (which nobody seems to want to fix... but this is another issue entirely)

I agree however that people who intentionally necropost, should be advised not to, however if the posts were locked after a few months, we simply would not have this problem.

I agree with Anticept that the auto-archiving on FP is Ghey, however it does keep people from necroposting after so much time has passed... it's not "FP Nazi-ism" if the system works.

You can bump quality threads from CPU forum, doesn't matter how old are they (it's backwards compatible stuff). Quality = the ones linked from "look here" thread.
