Default Changing wire without changing wire?

    Hi,
I hope this is the correct forum for this.

A server I frequent has been accepting suggestions for things they should add to the server. I thought about it for a while and decided on something. But instead of suggesting it, I decided to get off my lazy ass and try coding it myself. So I gathered my meager Lua skills and decided to try my hand at:

    EMP grenades

Throw it at something wire related, and a few seconds later:

But be quick, they only stay disabled for 30 seconds or so

As an added bonus, they should also stick to flat surfaces:

Their detection being a sphere instead of the SLAM's tripbeam.

Now I can do the grenade part and the SLAM part, and even the FindInSphere problem from just taking from the SLAM. The problem lies in how it should effect Wiremod when it detonates. I want it to where I don't have to edit wire components already in place, but not edit the actual wire files. I was hoping someone could give suggestions that someone with low lua skills could do.

One thing that came to mind was to change gates to a 'dummy gate' that had no real function, beacon sensors would start reading from a dummy beacon, Target finders would have their settings changed to a dummy entity, Expressions and CPU's running a dummy code file, turrets unwired, igniters unwired, all of it. The problem is I don't want this to be permanent. I don't want someone's hour of work decimated because Mr. McMingebag got a lucky shot with the gravity gun.
    Any suggestions?

You should check Algorithm's wired field generators, there's an EM field generator in there.
    It's included in wire extras.

You can trigger an output on an entity. Just make it a random number and watch it go mad.
