I'm thinking that a modification to the Pod Controller (which seriously needs to be merged with the Advanced Pod Controller) to have a LockView input would be the best way of implementing this.

Is there no news on this? This would be great for a lot of contraptions. If work has stopped, if you posted what you have I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd continue it.
