Why would it need a model parser and toolgun? All it would need is the Lua interface to simulate that chip actually running under GMod. You could provide your own version of the context menu, that'd be awesome.

Fair play to you for building this though. Looks pretty smooth, but if you did emulate the GMod API then the function of wired entities could be tested in here first and then tweaked in GMod. However I do appreciate that is a large amount of work.

It's a wire simulator, not a Garry's mod Lua Engine Emulator.

As for emulating GMod, it would be interesting, but very hard for vectors and stuff, especially emulating WMs weird wiring interfaces...

The point I was actually raising was to mimic the GMod Lua interface so that this simulator could be used as a test bench for wired entities. It would be easier to test wire operations using a program like this than it would in GMod with its memory whoring nature and whatnot.

I fully appreciate that testing devices like the Target Finder, Ranger or Thruster would be impossible outside of GMod and did not imply, nor intend to imply this. However, for devices that do not rely on the physics engine (i.e. gates, and even something like the CPU) simulation outside of GMod is entirely feasible.

.vtx parser: So chips look like they would in GMod, atleast from topdown
vecors:letting chips natively position themselves, providing fake returns to calls the get normal of face that trace from eye is hitting (see below also)
toolgun:"virtual" toolgun that sets up fake traces that the ents can read.

As for the CPU: I have zero idea how it processes the assembly, but I have the feeling it involves a DLL... Probably unmanaged also. I need to look into how including unmanaged DLLs in Lua works first.

Once I get WireSim done, I may work on GSim :P
