This can be done with clever clientside lua. I've done smart weld ALL clientside.

But yeah, integrate this into the duplicator. Shouldn't be too hard, you can do it.

Also, has anything been done about spazzy hydraulics? I've fixed it by lowering the weight, saving, and whenever I spawn raise the weight back up, but this can be tedious.

I only use this if I know that I won't finish something big, but I've been using another way for a long time.

1) Pick up the contraption and freeze every prop to a 90 degree angle.
2) Turn Physics Timescale to 0.
3) Unfreeze all props and duplicate.

This helps a lot, but any duplicate will never be as good as the original.

Does anybody know how to make axises save perfectly?

Instead of manually doing this, make the adv. duplicator do it. Like, it converts the welds to rope or it adds rope upon duplication. Then when you paste it, all the ropes are removed or converted back into welds. Would be pretty damn sweet.
