Is there a way to SVN update an FTP server? Other than uploading the entire folder?

I've only just joined, specifically to ask this question:

A few months ago I downloaded the Wire SVN and it worked fine, although the url was slightly different than it is now. Still the same server, and when I try to 'SVN Update' or 'Tortoise SVN> Switch' (to the new url) I get the following error:

Action: Error
Path: Can't connect to host 'wiremod.com': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

So the question is: Why is this happening and, more importantly, what can I do to make this stop happening?

In case it matters, I have no problems when updating SVNs on other servers.

Hi Gregert,
the error
"Can't connect to host 'wiremod.com': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
means your address is incorrect. Make sure you're using the address below (also in the first post)

https://svn.wiremod.com/svn/wiremod

Now, IF you have downloaded all the wire related addon folders in one go, then
Easiest way to change address is to: 1) click your Addons folder with right mousebutton, 2) select TortoiseSVN->Relocate... , 3) copy&paste the latest address (above) into the "To URL:" field, 4) press OK.

PS. Note: You NEED that https in the beginning of the link. Do NOT change it to svn.

SmartFTP has some functions in which you can synchronize with your SVN folder. You can add all .svn folders as exclusions, set date/time/size comparison rules, then set it to delete any extra files on the FTP that isn't on your upload folder.

Thanks Tuusita. Worked like a charm. Of course now I've done it, the solution seems obvious. (I'm sure you can tell I don't use SVN very often)

Hey, even if you used SVN daily like me, it still doesn't mean you'd know every function.
I often check my svn'd addons several times a day, but still it only requires using SVN Update.

Download | TortoiseSVN
and download the 32bit version,install it and you will be fine
