I have 32-bit but there is no choice of checkout when I right click
Error: Can't connect to host 'wiremod.com': No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
Is the server down?
I'd like to die sleeping, like my grandfather, not screaming, like his passengers.:p
To LegendaryPancake: Read this: TO ANYONE ASKING ABOUT THE SVN
If this is such a great mod why do you guys make it so hard to get it to work
It doesnt work for me :[ I downloaded tortoise and everything, and when i diid the scn check up ,everything went to the addons, cept svn. was kinda faded for some reason. then i tried urnning singleplayer, and it didnt let me play! It said taht hl2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. I know how to solve this problem ( rename gmod folder to get a fresh one ) and i dont think i need to get rid of everything, just the wiremod stuff. I diid, but icant get rid of the wire folder. it says its being used by another person or program. I dont know whats using it, help!
5yewy5r - I very much doubt that SVNing your wiremod wrong into your addons would have caused GMod to fail to load. To delete your wiremod folde,r try rebooting your computer. Whatever was accessing it at the time (if any - I personally am always rather suspicious of such messages in Windows) should let you delete it after a restart.
Common sense no longer applies.
I restarted it, but i still cant move wire. I got gmod to work again by getting rid of the adv duplicator and other stuff, but i still cant get rid of wire. Also, when i try to use wire under new category in tools, all it is ar ethe names of the tools, but they dont actually work. nothing happens when i click anything >_>
I wish wiremod was easier to install.
EDIT:
Ok, ive managewd to get rid of wire, and i did the svn check up again, tried to run gmod, went into the menu, tried to run singleplayer and it didnt work :[
same problem, hl2 has encoutntred a prboem yatti yatti yatta. Also, wth are those checkmarks next to those folders? ive never seen em b4.
Also also, why is the .svn folder like faded? never seen taht either.
Also also also, ive tried to download wire from garry'smod.org, and put all the files in the respective folders ( took forever)
didint work, the same; names in the new category under tools, but doesnt work. I deleted SOME of those files, but not all of em. does this effect the current svn in any way?
On a side note, when u add an addon, do u put the entire folder in the addon folder, or do u have to put the individual files in to their respective folders? Cuz tahts what ive been doing so far :/
P.S. sorry for asking for so much help :P

The checkmarks show which folders are recognized as SVN folders by TortoiseSVN. That way you know on which folders you can right-click and select SvnUpdate...
Faded folders are Hidden folders that you don't see unless you've 'told' Windows to 'show also the hidden and system folders'.
Uh oh! Example: putting the 'materials' stuff from the addon into the garrysmod/materials folder = BAD. Target folder: garrysmod/addons/wire/materials = GOOD.
Get rid of the downloaded version of Wire completely. If you've put some wire related files somewhere else than under garrysmod/wire folder, then I suggest you reinstall Gmod.
The garrysmod/addons folder should contain one folder per addon and no files (well, readmes and such are ok, but no lua files etc!).
Example folder structure (simplified):
Now this is how you will svn the Wire addon into the correct location:Code:- Garrysmod Addons CDS EasyEngine Wire -
- If there is no Wire folder under Garrysmod/Addons, make one. Or there is (maybe you put the downloaded version there?), empty it so there's no folders or files under Garrysmod/Addons/Wire.
- Right-click on the Wire folder and select SVN Checkout...
- Type: svn://wiremod.com/wiremod/wire into the URL of repository text box. Checkout directory should already show the correct folder (ends with ...blabla/garrysmod/addons/wire).
- Press OK and you're done! Have a cookie (
) while you wait for TortoiseSVN to download all the files from the server.
- In the future, to update the Wire addon, Right-click on the Wire folder and select SVN Update.
This? Much? Bah!![]()
well, thnx for answering all my questions, tuusita. However, u said i need to redownload gmod to get rid of the old wire folder.
If i delete and reinstall gmod, all my files are kept, including ALL addons, saves, etc.
I know how to create a fresh new gmod file, by changing the gmod folder name, but when i try to change the name it says access denied and that i cant change the nme of taht folder.
Ive done it before, so why cant i do it now?
