My big project right now is editing all of the basic gmod tools so they can be used on players. I'm also making a wizard swep with dozens of spells.
I was sitting here at my computer today, working on some programming and some homework, when curiosity struck.
Since even installing Wire basically necessitates a tinkering personality, and tinkerers always end up trying to do really big projects...What is yours? To rephrase that, we all mess around with turrets or random machines in Wire all the time, but do you have a single big project that you work on consistently?
As for myself, I'm making a suite of machines built to work in tandem with SpaceBuild, including (But not limited to.) an HQ, weapons systems, several flavors of satellites, and any number of probes or attack drones. Oh, and an orbital missile silo or two. Tackling each machine piece by piece, I've got the basic parts of most of those down, even if they are a bit ugly and not entirely useful. When it's all said and done I'll be able to kick back in my HQ out in deep space, watch where everybody goes on my handy 3D maps, and laugh as people try to fight back. Good times, I'm sure.![]()

I code best at 3 A.M.
That seems harder than my project. If only I knew Lua...Oh, well. Games are a bit easier to make with C#.My big project right now is editing all of the basic gmod tools so they can be used on players. I'm also making a wizard swep with dozens of spells.[/b]

I was working on a Life support addon, called Nuclear Power..too complex and no one interested so..i've simply stopped, deleted and got demotivated at coding for gmod..
So i've switched back to SA-MP coding (Pawn, that i know much more than Lua). I'm working on a big gamemode, it's about 8000 lines now but only ~20% is done.
What does the gamemode do? With that much code, it must be SOMETHING interesting!I was working on a Life support addon, called Nuclear Power..too complex and no one interested so..i've simply stopped, deleted and got demotivated at coding for gmod..

That's a gamemode for GTA:SA-MP, not Gmod!
It's all about:
- Role play (cops, prostitutes, gangstas, terrorists, drug dealers, taxi drivers etc..) 50% done,
- Gang wars / Territory wars (10 teams that needs to conquer other's turfs) 80% done,
- Races (60 races / 5 stunt places) 10% done,
- Life (~100 buyable houses / 500 buyable cars) 10% done,
- Minigames 0% done..
- Powerful admin system 25% done
It can be considered as a Free For All..you do what you want
That's the biggest project i've ever started. But no one play SA-MP here i guess![]()
Hmm...my big long-term project is making a bunch of vehicles for people to have battles with, stuff that moves well, and easily, but is also pretty lag-free. They'd also use a common set of interfaces and supplies, to simplify things. I dunno if lag could ever really be overcome, but ideally, here are the features:
All vehicles have tiny little directional radio turrets to securely transmit their location back to HQ, with some basic encrypting, so that at HQ, there'll be a little holo-display of where everyone is, and any targets they see.
All vehicles would use resources that are from regular LS2 and LS2: Gas Systems, nothing more complex than that. No tiberium, petrol, asteroid, other weird addons. The use of resources adds a minor strategic element.
If all that goes well, I may also add another common interface, to allow someone with a laser pointer linked to one at HQ to select a common waypoint for everyone linked into the system.
So, I'm making: a hover speeder, hover tank, hover artillery, hover APC, hover AA, fighter, bomber, and anything else that strikes my fancy. Some portable target finders and sonars. I dunno.
If you really want a common interface, let them hook up with a wire transferrer and radio. If you have the updated radio with channel input, you could make it work very well. I was working on a standard interface for mech parts and such a while ago, but my pod controller decided we were no longer friends, and gave up working.Stuffs.[/b]
Sounds cool. Take that idea, cut it way down, and add a bunch of features that would be useless in your project, and you've got mine.![]()

I've actually been taking a week or so off from Wire or else the B.A.M. would have been done xD
But, I'm headed back to get on Wire again soon, my days just opened up a bit so I'll be able to work on it. I've actually had to re-do a part of the system, and include a timing function so the darn thing will work right, oh well. It'll probably be done this week or so.
I think the next project I'll work on will involve creating an easier system for space maneuvering.![]()
