GPU only lowers FPS if it is spawned and you are looking at it. You should not remove any files from wiremod.
I stopped playing gmod for sometime and now i want to create again however my gmod is getting a very bad fps rate. 10fps in fact.
Now I remember reading something about wire mod that lowers gmods fps.
Well my question is, is there something in wiremod that lowers the fps? I think it was the cpu or gpu and if this is the case what files should I remove from wiremod help with the fps in game?
I hope this made some sort of sense.
The only addons I have right now are phx3 and the wire mod svn downloaded using the gmod svn updater.

To my knowledge, those will only hurt your performance if you have a cpu/gpu out.
Make sure you don't have any virus scanners running in the back ground, and that you have closed any other memory-hogging programs, such as Firefox, as it used to drop my frame rate quite a bit. Also, if you are playing multi-player, there is nothing you can do to prevent the fps drop from the wire entities mentioned.

All browsers do to a certain extent, close it if you can afford to.
Don't run anything along with Gmod. Even if the other programs don't eat up CPU and memory that Gmod wants, Source is naturally unstable and if one of your background programs try to bring the focus on themselves or otherwise interrupt Gmod, it'll crash on you.
Essentially...
Gmod is like your girlfriend. She's great and all... but she can be kinda protective. Generally she doesn't mind you hanging out with other girls as long as they don't cut into your "together" time, but when they try to bring the focus on themselves you're in for a world of hurt.
