    The rules...

Any ideas on what they should be? Timelimit? Limit on entries? Required posting of save or dupe pattern file? I will at least require screenshots or a movie.

I don't have anything in the way of prizes either.

Once there are some rules, then a challenge will be posted.

Timelimit should be 1 or 2 weeks since contest start.
Contest should have difficulty marking (Easy,Medium,Hard, and Extra Hard).
Contest starter should have a working model of what he wants do to up to the end of contest (so he can show working model, or smth).
Person should post save game of working model. I selected save over dupe, because dupe is buggy, and it can't store much of stuff.
There should be 2-3 screenshot showing the model, and maybe how it works. Movie is not required, but it might add chances to win.

    Special rules:
Save game must have latest SVN version, which was released before deadline.
Saved games will be tested by contest starter, all under same tests. Then you can compare how accurate results are comparing to starters model.
Saved games must obey to rules set by contest starter, i.e. they cant use forbidden gates, etc.
If save game contains CPU, then CPU program must be along with save.

I don't know about "forbidden gates" because there is always a hundred different ways to so something in wire, and the more gates you have the more possibilities there are.

I do think that 1 week would be optimal for challanges, 2 weeks is too long I believe.

Also "live" releases aren't termed "stable" enough for this kind of thing... Just STABLE releases should be use for this kind of thing so everyone has the same tools.

Perhaps have Multi-Layered Challanges Objective based... a very simple example would be.

Create a Car that drives itself around these tracks; one simple straight track and one "normal track"(included map here etc etc.)

1 - Easy: Create car that can drive along a the straight track by any means (looks count!).
2 - Medium (Includes Objective Above): Create car that will go around the main track by its self. (doesn't need to be perfect)
3 - Hard (Includes Objectives Above): Create car that goes around the track not hitting the sides or leaves course
4 - Extra Hard (Includes Objectives above): Create car that avoids obstacles while going forward on the track.
5 - Insane (includes all objectives): Create car that will slow down on corners and speed up on straight-aways.

Limitations (for medium difficulty and up): Cannot interfere with Car, Cannot control car manually, MUST use existing Gates with (insert wire version here)

Winning Goals: Fastest Car around both tracks wins!

Someone made a map for wire, it's got a bunch of different kinds of mazes in it. that out be good for challenges like "fastest through the obstacle course 2". Having a wire based timer save for that would help. The map would need the different course labeled and in a spot where the timer's sensors would be placed (marking these spots with x's would help too).

I'm going to make a better map, which will have maze divided in cells (32x32 max), and you can raise or lower walls on each cell. That might be used in future challenge

What about spacecraft fights in zero gravity? it could be manually controlled by player or team and wire could be used to simplify the control and stand up the battle.... there would be some rules setting up what weapons you can use... mass manuipulator would be forbidden...

There would be some breakable parts on the ship with specific health which indicates that ship was destroyed or somethin... maybe making a gamemod where each prop had some buy prize, also more powerful guns / thursters would be more expensive and so on...

but first the simpler version... what do you think about it all?

PS: Sorry for my bad grammar

Thats more of a PvP match, which is also fun. Post that idea in the gamemode thread here.

I have an idea for a fast little challenge.
    Crane
Build a crane that can lift wood crates, and sort them by color.
    Rules:
*The crane must do it by itself, no kind of user actions. (Except for start)
*The construction must work with the latest build from garrysmod.org
*You must list the addons and model packs that is used.
*There is no limitations in what kind of addon, model pack, wathever. But using only standard parts is of course better.
*You must use Wire addon for the crane!
    *MAX one crane per post.
*No posts without a unique crane.
*All cranes must have a save.
*MAX 3 pics. per crane when upload to wiremod.org
    *Min 2 pics. per crane.
*Linking to other sites for more information and pics. is okay.
    *Don't steal
    *Don't flame
*Don't say others cranes are stupid
    *Have fun

    Why?
I tried myself but it didn't really work so i thought that some of you might have an idea, good work
The Wire Wiki, please try there before asking.

Sorry for asking but where can I edit my signature?

Would help if we had a wired magnet first (not a real magnet, one that works with a weld instead).

Why? You can make a numpad controlled magnet, then make wire to emulate thad num key and the problem is solved... but i think crates may be wooden so better make some hydraulic hand
