![]() | The challenge is to make a non lethal laser tag game, where players use the laser pointer (or something with similar function) to shoot at other players/ bases/ other inventive goals. The game must have at least 4 players, and be easy to setup. Health isn't neccesary (1 hit, 1 kill), however, you know how laser pointers work, so a time between kills (shots) or a time to hold on the target before kill, is essential. If you make it team based, there must be a team scoring system. If you make it free-for-all, there must be a individual scoring system. For team games, you must have a team start procedure (like start at your base) and some identification (such as colours). Bonus points for extra gamemodes/ types Bonus for individual scoring in team games. Bonus for precision scoring (who you hit, how many objectives you captured, etc.) Bonus for simplicity (non lagginess) I will update the challenge as I think of more things it needs.

| Wire uruG ![]() ![]() | Hmm, How many times have there been suggestions for games like laser tag, paintball, and airsoft game modes. Isn't the purpose of these games to simulate firefights without the side effects of real guns? But you could make this simply with the laser pointer, a few compare chips, and a target finder. Or do one better, use custom spawn points, Guns, and Hitman's wonderfully usefull damage scale.

![]() | The players shoot each other, or objects in the game. However, you could make turrets that shoot players if you want, or trip mines, as long as the basic non lethalness of laser tag is apparent.

![]() | Sounds interesting, when I come out of retirement, I may give it a shot. The real issue is going to be tracking all those target finders/laser pointers, it won't be hard to set up, but there is not a very good way of avoiding lag for something like this... and setup for each round would probably be annoying. Meh. Cool concept. |

| Advanced Member ![]() | Sounds interesting, but hard to detect player hits and scoring on a per-player basis using an unmodified laser pointer...

![]() | I have an idea! Using radios, parenting, rangers, and colorers, you can make a gravity gun gun that shows if a player is hit. For teams, you can just have preset guns that color red or blue or whatever. I'll start on this, and take a break from helicopters. NEWS! I made guns, teams, and everything else you'd need, but then I realized how boring it would be to turn people colors. I don't do non-lethal!

| Advanced Member ![]() | Just thought about it, but the reason why paintball and laser tag exist are because it sucks to die in real life, playing a game. However in GMod you respawn, so making paintball or wahatever inside GMod is pointless. Ah well, still plotting how to do this, I'm thinking laser pointer outputs GPS coords, then target finders filtering by colours (each person is unique colour) output world coords. If any of the laser pointer co-ords are within the collision hull of any of the players (possibley for a second or two), it counts a hit.

![]() | Can I still submit an entry for this? I just need to test it on a server, then my entry will be ready, if possible.
