![]() | *****Post UPDATED (August 5th)***** This is an on-going Challenge! The Goal is to produce a lock of some kind that needs to be cracked and/Or a puzzle to be solved. The Locks/Puzzles must have (besides a working dupe or save); 1. A clearly defined win scenario ![]() A door can unlock, something can blow up, lights can flash, bullets fly and whatever you want. As long something happens (even small) when you have success, so that we know that we've solved the puzzle/lock. 2. Optional mechanism that can solve the puzzle that doesn't require cracking to solve. So the solution can be tested manually, such as entering the correct code, or pushing buttons in the right sequence. This is OPTIONAL. 3. An interface for the puzzle. The puzzle/challenge obviously must have a way for a person to interact with it (like buttons/props) and if the puzzle calls for it, a way to wire or "connect" a cracking/sniffing device to link to the puzzle to give it data so clues can be found. 4. "Verbosity", the puzzle must give an output or a clue of either progress, success or failure. As you feed values (or push buttons) to (or on) the locking device, there needs to be a way the cracker can figure out when they have given a correct input or perhaps a clue, similar to the clicking noises a safe makes. The Solution must have; 1. Adv. Dupe, Save or Code used to crack the device. 2. Instructions on how to use the cracking device. 3. Pictures are Optional The "Protocol": To Submit a puzzle, simply supply a dupe/save of the device/door/lock/safe/whatever and give a description of what it is and how we know if we've solved the puzzle. Such as "The door will unlock" or "Combine soldiers will die lol" or even "You won't die when time runs out". Be sure you've followed the instructions above for puzzles so we have some consistency. To Submit a Solution, just upload a dupe/save of the device, tell us what contraption it's made to crack and how to use it to crack that device. If no crack is required, simply supply the method for solving the puzzle. Pictures of solutions also work! To "win": Be the first post to supply the working crack/method for a certain device that hasn't already been cracked and/or method given to solve the puzzle, they get credit for it! Their name and achievements will be listed below ![]() Points and Brownie Points: (Credit and "Extra Credit") To add a little motivation and competition... Each Puzzle solved gets you a point, the more working solutions you provide, the more points you get. These are awarded on a per puzzle basis. For challenges that have more than one solution, you will get 1/2 point for each extra solution (2 solutions gets you 1.5 points, 3 solutions get you 2 points.). The solutions must be different from the other to get the extra 1/2 points. If your tired of waiting and solve your own puzzle/challenge. You can claim 1/2 of a point. ![]() For going the extra mile and doing research on how and why your solution works and getting inside the mind of the puzzle/challenge makers head, I'm I'll give out "Brownie" Points. To qualify for 1 brownie point, you must present an analysis of your solution and theorize on how the puzzle/challenge works. This will win you 1 brownie point. To get 2 brownie points, you need to go even further. Get into even more detail, point out flaws in the system, tell how it could be improved (in detail, not "use CPU" or "use E-Gate"). To get a WHOPPING 3 Brownie points (equivalent to solving 3 puzzles!), you must do all of the above satisfactory AND provide a significantly improved working duplication of the device you cracked/solved. You'll need to provide us with what you changed and why you made those changes. The device must be functionally similar. These points will be added together to be your total number of points awarded for the challenge completed. ![]() Current UNSOLVED Puzzles! ![]() 1.) ![]() | ****This is an EXAMPLE Challenge, example solution will follow shortly!**** --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***CHALLENGE!*** Fox's Lockbox #Demo (please give your device a name for clarity )The Dupe of the device: simple lockbox.txt Description: It's a simple safe with 3 inputs, 1 output, 3 indicators and a button (with its own indicator). Win Scenario: The safe will open when all of the 3 inputs have the right numbers given to them. All three indicators will turn pure green when the inputs are correct. Operating Instructions: (optional) Once you've given the inputs the right numbers press the button to unlock the safe. Hints: (Optional) The output will give a value of the number of inputs that are correct.

![]() | ****Example Solution!**** ----------------------------- Solution for: Fox's Lockbox #Demo Dupe: last value sniffer.txt Instructions for use: Attach the device to one of the inputs and attach it to the output. It will send values to the input and stop when the output changes, using this method we can find out what number triggered the change. Repeat for all 3 inputs to find the numbers, then use a constant value gate with the three numbers. Manual Solution: (Optional) The numbers for the inputs are 10, 5 & 2.

| Advanced Member ![]() | Preface: Spoiler tags are used here for hints, for maximum enjoyment dont look at them, but you may need to ![]() Why oh Why did I ever follow those signs laying on the ground? Well, now your stuck, with that annoying portal tick/tock sound counting down...err... up? ![]() Attached is the dupe Description: Trap room in gm_construct, with infinite ways to get out, but will you find one? The trap door that spawned after you were stupid enough to walk through it will disappear, allowing you to reach freedom! Operating Instructions: Hey, what's this plug? Note: Please don't use the wire tools on the panel on the wall w/ the doors, I tried to weld a prop infront, but it didn't work Also, avoid the 'z' key ![]() More Note: Check "spawn at original location" checkbox in adv dupe use in gm_construct. Edit: This has multiple win scenarios! Infact, they go aaaalllll the way up to the largest 32bit number. HOWEVER Keep>>> On>>> Going>>> They all originate from one equation, and you can always win, no matter what the timer is.

![]() | Right on cpf! I'll wait till I get back home to take a crack at it, so I'll give other people the chance, I pretty much check this post hourly so I've got an unfair advantage ![]() Good Luck! **Note** If there are MULTIPLE win scenarios please mention that. I haven't decided on a means of deciding who wins from that... it is an unexpected thing... nice job cpf ![]() I'm thinking this will be most fair. - If multiple people find ways to solve the puzzle that has Multiple Win Scenarios, They will get credit for the solution they found that is different from what others have found.

| Advanced Member ![]() | OK, added some extra info to my post clarifying the oh-so-scary "infinite ways to get out " line ![]() If there are infinite ways to get out, you'll always find one, that applies here to.

![]() | cpf, some of the stuff appears to have not duped correctly. You might want to check your dupe or re-make and then re-upload. I'll see if I can upload a few challenges to get people warmed up.
