Here are some suggestions. Make it in its own tab because I keep on trying to use normal wire components on it. Make the chips not in a context folder, but only if you make it in a seperate tab. Add an export feature so people can post the chips they make. Maybe some capatibility with other mods. For example add some code to check what addons you have. Ill think of more and maybe some helpful segments of code.

Sorry for the uber noob question, but what does it mean by context menu?
And a more general nooby question - how does it work? How is it different from wire 1? I see this about circuits and stuff... Can you explain the concept of them? (in-game circuits, I know what an RL circuit is ;-) )
The context menu is a smaller menu you bring up by pressing and holding a key (defulat is c). It gives you all the options.
Wire2 is based around making it nicer to use gates, what you do is create a pcb board and then put chips on it, wire it all up the way you want it then right click the board (I think). It will create one chip from everything that is wired so it is much more compact and is still as easy as combining visible chips.
It's not better or worse than regular wire, it's more of a different path entirely! ^_^

Of course the one random key press I *DIDNT* try was C!
Hmmm, very interesting! Is there a way to expand ICs once compacted for revision?
I have been messing around with it and I'm a bit confused about how things like rangers, buttons, thrusters, etc work. They look like any other chip with a couple odd options.

I could help you with the wiki if you need any help, or with any other web stuff you want done![]()

Hey, look! It's a tutorial on using LuaInterface! It's outdated on a dead programming forum! Even better! I know!
The ranger I tried worked just like a regular ranger would, the up face of the model measured range (I don't know the beam trace has been added yet, but it's more of a luxury). I'm sure buttons and thrusters work the same way, they may look like normal chips but source doesn't care, as long as they have the code to do what they are supposed to do they will.
I believe that the pcb board keeps your info, just place it down again and it will have all the components it has before (note that the ghost image won't, but as soon as you create the real thing it will), that's what happened when I tried it.

I'd love to help, because I love the idea of ICs, but I think it will have to wait until after somebody makes that wiki. I've had Wire2 for ages now but I really can't quite understand it. Even making a button start a timer isn't reproducible for me, and every time I try to make something it just leaves me with more questions. Like why does the button have 3 outputs that are always false? Is it a bug or intended behaviour?

I've commited revision 75 to the SVN and just barely started on the wiki.
If in doubt, stick your finger in it.
