Yay! \o/![]()
the only thing i hope happens now, is that this is added to the SVN, then most people will have the models :/
unless there's someway to make them download the models o.0.
Well, they won't be able to see the values just by looking at it, but if they made their own reader, they can read your keycard's values. Any reader can read any keycard, it's writing that depends on the lock code. They won't be able to see the values without having the same lock code will they?
cause then you can make PIN numbers without needing a database for the keycards[/b]
However! I could make an option on the readers: "Read keycard only if lock code matches." Then, even though people could read the values off of your keycards, they won't be able to do anything about it because your reader will have that option set. >_>
I want to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

I agree with anusappeltje, this would be great in the SVN.
Some minge kills you and gets entry to your base? oh noes!ThanksIt was for the RSS feed rather than the keycards, but that's fine by me >_>
With the upcoming Keycard Wallet, you'll be able to keep your cards secure and with you at all times! Unless someone kills you and takes your cards of course >_>
Yep, that's what the Keycard Spawner does
Sorry for the delay in the Wallet release... if it's any consolation, the only thing I really have left to do is graphical stuff. I might have to abandon the context-menu idea unless I can find out how to create one of those controls, but don't worry, you'll still be able to name the cards.
(And the name stays with the card as well, so you don't have to rename it every time you pick it up!)[/b]
You could add something that makes you able to make 4 cards:
Portable ram, a table with addresses and values, will drop when you die.
Credit card, a card with a single value, namely money, will drop when you die.
Value card, a card with a single value, will not drop when you die.
Keycard, a card used for opening doors and stuff, you can select if you drop it when you die.

Plus it works the other way around too, you can kill a base and take a noobs keycard and lock him out of his spam tastic base.
Haha, ok, I admit it, I am impatient. So yes, Any status report?
Wow, good timingI was going to post today anyway.
I haven't done a lot of work on Keycards due to college stuff -- for the last four days I had several major projects to finish. (On the bright side, my AJAX/MySQL-driven chat room works just fine.) But today I got some free time! So here's what I did.
RAM Keycards are working just fine. Every keycard now has 32 different storage values (I can increase it if needed, but honestly, when are you going to need more in a keycard.)
And readers now have the option to completely ignore all keycards with lock codes that don't match. Now you don't need a database of valid PINs... just make your reader ignore all the impostors, and then only keycards that come from your spawners will be read.
Thinking of changing the terminology too. Reader -> Scanner, Spawner -> Dispenser. What do you think?
I'm attempting to convert the Keycard Wallet to Derma instead of plain VGUI so I can use the DMenu control (that little "Drop, Rename" context menu thing) and DImageButton for the keycard icon. But it's not going so well. I'm getting some errors when bringing up the DMenu. It's irritating because there are several backend components (like naming cards) that should work fine, but I can't test them until I get the UI working. And to be honest, the whole UI feels kind of ugly for me. I sort of envisioned something different... maybe I'm going about this the wrong way.
Anyway, I can put up a new release if you guys don't mind not having the wallet yet. The RAM values are pretty fun to mess around with.
Edit: Wow, long post is long. But I figure you can never have too much information. Better than me vanishing and leaving everyone asking questions. >_>

Yay for update, and yeah, no wallet for now sounds fine to me.
All right! Version 0.5 is out.Yay for update, and yeah, no wallet for now sounds fine to me.[/b]
I added a screenshot to demo the new RAM feature. And I changed the changelog. How weird is that. >_>
