The Localized Physics idea is fucking sick, I would kill just to see this done.
Ya know... a mobile Occluder would really be a kick in the pants... not having to render someones laggy robot from hell would be a really cool idea :P

Pointless things that are pointless, are pointlessly pointless, therefore pointlessness is pointless.
So pointlessly pointing out the pointlessness of this pointless signature is utterly pointless.

Hi. I am bit new to lua but i might have a suggestion for an alternate method to achieve localized physics. I haven't finished tracking down all the functions needed, but I have found most of them. Here's my idea:
What if you <insert method to determine if you are in your ship> and apply the results of <ship part nearest player>.GetVelocity and <ship part nearest player>.GetAngleVelocity to the player, thereby keeping the player moving with the ship?
I'm sure it would be a bit more complicated than that, but is this approach worth investigating or am i missing something?

The biggest problem with just moving the player is rotation, if I recall the previous attempts correctly.
superlama no offence but the rendering problem is going nowhere faster then the speed of light. can you just assume a mapper would make a special ocluder room in there map so you can go ahead fix everything else?
What about parenting the player to a core prop? Last I checked, player movement still worked whilst the player entity was parented. That's a good idea to at least get player walking down.
Guys, I think SuperLlama has well and truely abandoned this...
