    Well, the title says everything. I was always wondering why nobody made such a tool, it's much easier and quicker than using a ranger and a comparison gate.

    As I've just learnt how to use Lua with Garry's Mod today, I tried to simplify and modify the ranger tool. Here is the result:

    http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=17643

    The first screenshot is a simple bouncer. I didn't need more than 1 minute to build this thing. I would probably spend more than 3 minutes wiring comparison gates, rangers, constant values... if I was using rangers.

    You can now decide whether you want the sensor to detect world or props, or not, and you can change the colour of the beam (yes, it's completely useless, but I like dumb rainbow security walls )

    I'll say it again, this is my very first Lua tool, so it may not be bug free, and it probably sucks because it's excessively simple. Anyway, I hope it's a little useful for some lazy guys like me. Of course, you can criticize my work, say it's crap, or whatever you want... And if you think it can be improved.... I need ideas.

    I've just noticed this tool is completely useless. Just use a ranger with Ignore World and Default to zero on...
    It probably explains why I don't get any answer.

    Anyway, I don't know what kind of wire tool would be really useful. Any idea ?

    Make hoverballs which have X and Y inputs and not just z (move contraptions via hoverballs on any axis - more stable than thrusters).

    Shouldnt be too over complicated for a Lua newbie.

    Ignore world wont ignore props.. this tool can be used to set tripwires or alike that only affect players NPC's and vehicles. therby making it ideal for mingetraps, and other player action based effects (EG, a pilot pod that moves up to a landing gantry when a player walks towards it in space build)

    This is a very good tool, thank you.
    (i'd vote for an SVN inclution)

    I was thinking about rotating hoverballs (with Pitch, Yaw and Roll inputs, useful for orbital cannons or turrets). I will also add X and Y inputs then. But the movement of the hoverball would be relative to the world, not the hoverball, right ?

    I'm actually not really a Lua newbie. I've been programming in Lua for a quite long time, I just need to know the Garry's mod functions, classes, libraries, now.

    Pleased to see you are interested It needs some improvement though. And tripwires can be done with a ranger and a delta gate. I think it doesn't deserve an SVN inclusion... at least not yet. I'll try to improve it as well as possible (make it detects a particular player's props, or only vehicles with a player inside of it, etc....)

    Why not add a "Ignore Players" and "Ignore Props" tick box?
    Or make a Output Type tick box where:
    Code:
    0 = Nothing
    1 = World
    2 = Player
    3 = Prop
    4 = Other

    There is already a "Ignore Props" tick box.
