I don't know if it is possible, but if so, i would support you to get the intelligent developers to change it.

Is there a way to get the socket to release the plug on command? I like how it holds onto things, but I would like to somehow be able to get it to release something. Any ideas?

The RAM slots do this don't they? I seem to remember them ejecting ram with a command.
I'm sure a similar system could be adapted for this.

I know a way! You can get a forcer no-collide it with everything place it in the socket, facing outward from the it and hook it up to a keypad. If it has enough force, it can sent the plug flying out!
A forcer with negative values pointed at the plug would just "pluck" the card out rather than creating a deadly projectile :3

Pointless things that are pointless, are pointlessly pointless, therefore pointlessness is pointless.
So pointlessly pointing out the pointlessness of this pointless signature is utterly pointless.

Or link up an entity marker to the plug, and use applyForce to it in the direction opposite the socket (probably negative forward vector) .. that might work. Just another temporary solution if/until someone implements something like that.
or, or, you could set up a grabber on a hydraulic, so it grabs the plug, then the hydraulic pulls it out and releases it.
Thanks guys. I decided to use weld latches though.
agh, I was so close. That was going to be my next suggestion after the next poster, but you beat me to it, damn you!
