Unless the directx API gets ported to mac or other *nix like OS's, or Valve adds support for those OS's, I think you'll pretty much have to use darwine or one of the Cedega suites to play Gmod on a mac.
One day (like 2 moths ago) there was a thread saying "Garrys Mod for Mac?" I search for it using the word "Mac". But no threads showed up :huh:. So I don't know if there was a solution or garrys mod for Macs. if there is already solution just kill me :tank:. Finally, here is my solution is just change the C++ files so there are .net formats. The main reason garrys mod isn't on Mac is that C++ files are in a format only for Windows. but I'm not going to do itso........good luck!!

Scott: You can gib a child with one stroke of the nanosword!
Chris: That's because children have fewer hit points. They are inferior and weak.

dam :hang: well I had a great life.
I really wonder, why there is no source engine for mac or linux. I mean: Hello! It's only the engine. You won't need to recode everything. You won't even need to recode the whole engine. just make some parts more compatible. Not really the biggest problem on earth.
But do you know, guys, where the problem is?
You would need to put work in it. And after (nearly) everybody uses windows, it just wouldn't pay of to make it Mac or Linux compatible.
farking microsoft monopol
Needz moar Lua
Mac isn't a gaming laptop.My friend has a mac laptop and it even can't play runescape.....u will need to buy video cards,RAM,and Audio cards. No one wants to do that. Plz I would have work on it but all the money would go to garrys mod not me
plus I can't engine I'll look that up. plus 1 man can't made a engine

<looking like a idoit for comdey>
The problem isn't Garry's mod, it's the engine. Assuming that you only mean port the Source Engine to x86 based Macintoshes, you would have to recode the entire renderer in OpenGL or SDL because DirectX doesn't exist in Mac OS.
That's no small task, it would probably take recoding half the engine to do that, which is why nobody has tried doing it. And if you also mean support PowerPC based macs, the entire engine would have to be recoded. Some of the low-level aspects of the engine most likely use some assembly language for x86 that would have to be converted to PowerPC code.
The only real way to run Gmod on a Mac right now is to use an emulator like WINE or use bootcamp.
