A fun timewaster I've found

It's a game called Rigs of Rods. It's quite amusing, wastes lots of time and relieves stress. Plus, it has cool crash effects.

It's a vehicle simulator, handwritted by a frenchmen who was bored. As such, the code isn't very optimized and it does lag a fair bit. Also, the 3D modeling is sub-par, looks like something we had 10 years ago.


It's still fun tho. Why?


Crashes. The deformable nature of the vehicles, which are built out of things called Rods, makes them bend and buckle semi-realistically when you slam headlong into a building. I have an offroad pickup I slammed headlong into a building at 140+. It folded in on itself all the way up to the bed. It's awesome. This is how it busts stress.


It's light on disk space. the .zip is less than 40MB to download.


It's freeware, closed source. Comes with vehicle editor ingame, and a nifty terrain editing vehicle. Haven't figured out how to use either yet.


To get it, go to rigsofrods.blogspot.com. It's in perfect English, dont worry.


If you already play it, post your funneh crashes or whatever.


Also makes an interesting drift game. Ever seen a Jeep Cherokee do a 90MPH tailslide and not instaflip?

Nope, cant play, I installed And it says run configuration and then when i do it works and then I try again and it says the same thing

That's because of the unoptomixed code. Bump it down to 16-bit color and it should run much better. I've gotten it playable on a P4 1.6GHZ, 128MB ram, Intel Extreme graphics, XP Pro SP2. It took 800X600X16, but it's playable.

Check on their forums. They can halp better than I can. Only thing I can think of is ignore the message if it plays. If it prevents it from working, try seeing if Windows marked the .cfgs read only.

I was flying the plane once, buzzed the truck dealer in Aspen, the fuse stopped but the wings didnt. It was awesome...

It "works" on vista, but I get 1.2 fps if I'm lucky. 800x600x16, low settings on everything else. This is a good computer, too. I blame vista.

I have Vista Ultimate X86 and it runs fine. You have driver issues. I have a very shitty video card and get 35FPS average.
