I had teachers at school, who would even try to press the F13 key or to pull the WLAN cable out of a computer.

Worst I did was sent several messages to every computer in the school. I made the mistake of telling my friend, who spammed a ton of messages. Ah well, they shoulda blocked 'all' the command prompts.

    i can name a few,
    1. physical keylogger, easy simple effective
    2. pull out the ethernet cable and do a few trickery things with the VPN of the network to gain local admin privileges
    3. in my case, i was in cisco networking , we had the job of reinstalling the operating system with a custom disk, on witch was the install.txt , witch had all the default option the system would use, administrator password was like the 4th option down, it was also "IpWtiDlVe" weird password, but very strong against brute force,

    also for command promt when its blocked, do this;
    1. open up notepad.
    2. type "command"
    3. save as "anything here".bat
    run and have command promt

ill also state that NONE of this is in any way hacking. having fun is more like it, also, if you ever find a neat trick to use, never tell anyone. easy as that.

Maybe we're all gonna die, but we're gonna die in *really cool ways*.

According to Webster's definition, anyone in CompSci class would be a hacker, and therefore should be expelled.
According to Wikipedia's definition, a lot of the offences that I have seen that have been called "hacking," are not hacking, and therefore should not be punishable.

My school library has 4 posted rules:
    1. No Emailing - Most of the teachers I have seen let students email themselves their project so that they may work on it at home. Also, not even Gaggle, the school's email system, is allowed.
    2. No Downloading - You have to download web pages to display them.
    3. No Saving to Disk - Logging on creates system profiles, browsing increases the cache and stores cookies, ect.
    4. No Games - No argument here.

    Summary: School sucks.

I guess I'm lucky then. I had a networking teacher that actually knew about computers. Some of the teachers thought it was hacking if you changed the background (not actually hacking, but at least it IS listed in the student handbook that you aren't supposed to). Then until this year, I would just make a shortcut to C: in my flashdrive and use that to change a few settings (mostly just to turn on ClearType the long way around, cause I couldn't read the LCD screens without it, the quick way was blocked, and for some reason it wasn't already on.) and teachers thought that was hacking. It was perfectly fine at the time, though, because it wasn't against the rules to access the main harddisk. They fixed that this year though........

This is not hacking and it's most certainly nothing to boast about.

School computers are terribly insecure and always have been. 99% of them are based around windows on some form or another and the blocks are just "user end" they disable all the handy things like cmd prompt in the menu double clicking a bat file to have it run, stuff like that. Simple "system level" things still are not managed, a autorun file on a USB drive or CD will still be able to run the cmd prompt in most cases.
As somebody pointed out as well about pulling out the ethernet cable, when no network connection to the user data base can be established the machine will accept any user/pass given (or the last to log in) and treat as LOCAL administrator, keyword being local any files or changes made are local and 90% are undone when the machine syncs with the network and changes its settings to match.

    Let it be known:
    1. Bypassing internet filters with a proxy is NOT hacking
    2. Starting a cmd prompt is NOT hacking
    3. Pulling out the ethernet cable is NOT hacking
    4. Changing info in a database where you already have privileges to do so is NOT hacking, moreover keeping the script to do so on your local machine is stupid and easy traceable as nightly backups are made 90% of the time along with logs of created/deleted files
    5. Getting the admin password using cmd prompt is NOT hacking.
    6. 99% of people including IT teachers are scared of a terminal/cmd prompt. However, 80% of the people on this fourm are are not, take your attempts to impress people somewhere else.
    7. It's not cool. You did something to a computer someone didn't want you to do, you're not some uber 1337 hacker now. You're just a prick finding it funny to annoy other people using the IT facilities.
