How did ya translated binary to 'normal'..?

I was in this clan and the leader has a laptop wich he hosts the servers on and a desktop which he plays on and he had to get his laptop fixed and later he found out it was completly totaled so later he says he quits steam?
Why would someone quit steam because they cant host servers>?:huh:
