Not specifically wiremod, but I want to make a video of my contraption in action.

Whats the best way?

Use FRAPS. It costs a few dollars, but it's much less of a headache than Source Recorder.

Yes I agree Fraps is probably one of the better ones you could get.

And its free and does all that fraps does(as far as i know) also unregistered fraps is the most annoying thing in existance for a video more than 25 secs long.

Hmmmm, is there a way you can stop Source from creating a TGA file for every frame in the video it records? This is what I find annoying about it, having a few thousand TGAs/frames taking up an enormous amount of disk space then having to convert them all to AVI

There is parameter that outputs AVI instead of TGA, look for FP topic link in this thread
