Have you tried raising the weight of the plate?
I built a contraption on a 1x1 tiledblock (thin V2) and it looks fine, unless it touches the ground at which point the wire parts all fall through the floor and if I pick it up they spring around they even make the tile jump as they slide through it when the object drops.
Is there a way to fix this? I'd like to use the TiledBlocks 1x1 over the PHX 1x1 just cause TiledBlocks uses 5 megs total vs PHX3's ~400.
But the contraption auto nocollides with the tiles I've put the parts on without nocollide and it still does it.
Any suggestions?

TiledBlocks is included in PHX3, no?
Raising the weight helps a lot. I use 1x1 plastic tiles (ie. the ones from TiledBlocks) and I always set the weight to 128 before doing anything with them. If it's part of a mechanical contraption, use 256.
Hmm, I should make an addon that automatically multiplies the weight of a TiledBlock by a certain amount when it's spawned.
Why is the strength of the weld proportional to the weight of the props? Why can't welds be strong to begin with.

Question: Why is the strength of the weld proportional to the weight of the props? Why can't welds be strong to begin with.
Answer: Because Source uses an old version of Havok. The only thing stronger than a weld is parenting, which as you should know, causes miscellaneous bugs with the prop.
Though somebody should fix parenting in Source and we'd all be happy.

The reason I think it needs to use stronger welds for heavier objects is because it takes more force to keep two heavy things connected as opposed to two light things.
Think about how much effort you'd put into closing your hand if holding part of a couch, if you removed the couch suddenly your hand would probably clench so fast you'd hurt yourself. But not so with a pop can which you only need to hold very lightly.
However if you held that pop can like you were picking up a couch (aside from crushing it) you'd make it a LOT harder for anyone to take it from you.
The Source engine doesn't let you change the strength of a weld. It doesn't decide "this is heavy, we need a strong weld!". They're as strong as they can be for that weight, it's just all to do with how Havok keeps things welded.
well I wonder if there's a way you can trick Havok into thinking that the prop is really heavy. When its not...
