    Default Vector Thruster Vector Input

Can someone explain what sorts of inputs the vector thruster's vector input takes? I tried outputting a vector X,Y,0 (I didn't need a Z value to be variable.) When I tried to connect it, I was told wire input mismatch. It takes normal.

Can someone explain what sort of input the vector thruster's vector input wants? I'm assuming I can control XYZ from one wire with it. Am I wrong?

the vector thrusters vector input takes a vector input, though there is nothing in wire that gives a vector
BUT there are vector gates implemented in wire, though they needs unlocking by some means that I can't remember, else the Expression 2 also has support for vectors, and can be used.
But just so you know, even though the expression gate 1 in wire has vector-support, it is not a real vector-support, and cannot be used with vector inputs.

You can unlock vector gates with this patch.

Expression 2 has brilliant vector support and works like a charm.

I don't have expression 2. I can't make them or edit them or anything.

Okay so I can't use Expression 1 gates to give proper inputs to the vector thrusters? Sad. That's all I needed to know.

I don't suppose someone could edit the vector thrusters to WORK with E1 gates? hint hint.

If I had a vector gate, would it require me to plug in X Y Z independently anyway? I want to reduce the number of wires I have to connect when I setup vector thruster contraptions. I don't see a download what do I do with this lua in the post?

It's a diff file, search for a tutorial on how to apply it.

Download expression 2, the SVN URL is svn://home.syranide.com/expression2/ (and if you don't know how to use SVN, then just get out right now).

You can still output the X and Y variables independently, but really, E2 is the best solution. Nobody will modify vector thrusters to work with E1 -- really, you'd want to modify E1 to work with vector thrusters. But that's a silly idea, because E2 is out and far better than E1.

Can E2 take a packet from E1 so I don't have to learn a whole lot of E2 right now?
Only problem with E2 is I'm not sure how ubiquitous it is in online servers that have wiremod. So if I make a contraption with E2, I cannot be certain I can even use it everywhere.

hopefully it wont be long until we get the time to insert E2 into the wire-svn.
and E2 doesn't have packet support, and it is not going to get it.
Packet support isn't coded very well, and it would be hacky to implement it into E2 as well, so its better to just start anew.
and when you learn E2, you won't go back. :P

E2 Is not a completely alien technology, just some of the syntax is a bit different and some of the functions have different names. It takes like 5-10 min to learn the new syntax.

Dang, I've been using packets like all over where ever I can if I can. I like them a lot. I'll miss not having them around. Saves me so much wiring and lets me pass like 12 things per wire.

E2 has Wirelinks, which lets you wire up one input to the chip and then from that control all of the inputs and outputs on the gate you wired up.

    Wirelinks > packets.
