About this guide
When you follow Part 1: Troubleshooting Gmod exactly we can almost garantee that your wiremod works as intended. Go through the steps with care and your problems will be fixed as fast as possible.
If the guide doesn't fix your problems, it's essential that you provide all the information asked for in Part 2: How to help us help you. With the information we can verify that you are not a pirate and give us the tools to help you.
Part 1: Troubleshooting Gmod
IMPORTANT: Test in Single Player, as a servers copy of wiremod will override yours (meaning if the servers copy is messed up, yours will appear bugged too)- Are you a pirate? If you are, don't ask for help, don't pass go, don't collect 200. Once you are found to be a pirate, you will be permabanned on the spot, so just don't bother.
- Are you looking at the WIRE tab in the upper right?
- Make sure your wiremod is fully updated. If you are using SVN (which you should be), then simply do an SVN update on the wire folder. If not, then your wiremod is probably outdated. Here is a nice little tutorial to download wiremod with TortoiseSVN: Divran's SVN Tutorial [Pictures Included]
- Are you getting the wiremod installed improperly popup? Then delete the garrysmod/addons/lua and garrysmod/cache folders, and pay more close attention to what you are instructed to do in the download guide next time.
- Delete the garrysmod/cache folder. The whole thing. See if the problem still occurs.
- Try verifying your gmod cache. Do this by right-clicking Garry's Mod in steam, click properties, go to "Local Files" tab, then click "verify integrity of game cache." Now see if you have the problem.
- Check and make sure you installed it correctly. Here is how you verify:
The folder structure for wiremod's info.txt files should look like this:
garrysmod/addons/wire model pack 1/info.txt
garrysmod/addons/adv duplicator/info.txt
garrysmod/addons/wire/info.txt
If you see garrysmod/addons/wire/wire/info.txt, then you are doing it wrong :P. Cut & Paste all the contents in /addons/wire/ to /addons/. Do take note that i had said Cut & Paste while doing this. Once this is done, feel free to see if your copy of wire is working now.
Here is a nice little image:

- Reinstall Garry's Mod. Do this by going to your garrysmod folder, and RENAME it to gmodold (Don't delete it, because reinstallation might not fix the problem!).
- With a fresh install of Garry's Mod, open Garry's Mod and check for any errors. There should be no errors, but if there are, be sure to note them and tell us!
- At this point, install only a FRESH copy of Wiremod from the SVN. If the error goes away, one of your addons is probably messing up wiremod. To find the conflicting addon, add addons back from your gmodold/addons folder one by one until the error reappears, in which case the most recently restored addon is the culprit.
NOTE: IF YOU REACH THIS STEP, DO NOT RESTORE "GMODOLD" YET! Only once the problem is determined to be something in wiremod, Garrys mod, or your addon in question, will you be able to safely restore "gmodold."
Part 2: How to help us help you
This is the most important part of this guide!
You need to follow it so we can try and reproduce the problem. Ignoring it is not optional.
We have more experience and a greater toolset to trace the problem, but we need to replicate your environment as well as your issue, in order to properly track the issue.- Tell us exactly what the problem is.
- What is the error?
- When exactly do the problems occur?
- Does it happen in singleplayer and/or multiplayer?
- A condump. Only telling us the error does not help us enough!
First, type "wire_PrintVersion" in your console.
Then, type "condump" in your console after loading a map, and attach/upload latest condump file. It is situated in your garrysmod folder (the one where addons, data, bin, screenshot folders are), and called condump****.txt, where **** - is some number. Send us the newest one, either by copy+pasting the contents in [code]<condump>[/code] tags, or by simply attaching the file. - A screen shot of your Q menu and addons folder.
To take a screenshot, press the "Print Screen" key. Then go to MS Paint or another art program, and go to Edit > Paste. The canvas should now have the contents of your screen when you pressed the Print Screen key. Save the image and upload it to an image service (such as imgur), and copy+paste the link they give you. - Proper English. If you make a giant post without any periods or commas, misspelled words, etc., many people won't even take the time to read your post. Organize your information and place it in the post in a neat and informative way.
Easter Egg Fix
If you are getting the notification saying a portion of a script ran that shouldn't have, then your problem is a ID:10T error. Delete all folders in garrysmod EXCEPT addons, data, and maps.
If you have any maps you downloaded which included anything more than just a .bsp, you need to get them again.
"Attempted to index local 'GPU'" Error Fix
Do this: this is spammed in console...
Hologram Checksum Error fix
If holograms aren't working, or you are getting an error like this:
Code:
"Error Vertex File for 'Holograms\cube.mdl' checksum <number>, should be <number>"
Then delete the "garrysmod/garrysmod/models/Holograms" folder.
