Garrysmod update broke tool screens.

Question... If he KNOWS Wiremod is the most popular addon, and he knows that every time he updates, he breaks it... Why the hell doesn't he bug check before releasing a patch? I mean, any sensible developer always checks his code for conflicts between the most popular addons for that particular game before releasing it, why does Newman think he's any better than the rest?

I have quick-patched this error by commenting out the entire addons/Wire/lua/wire/client/toolscreen.lua file. This removes the error spam, although it may break something else, I'm not sure.

I Agree. one time he broke an addon and that was HLSS On Purpose to see how many people would get pissed. not only did this update broke the toolgun but also prevents me of using a custom background which im forced to use his crappy background

HLDJ got disabled because it's fucking annoying. but then he re-enabled it for some stupid reason.
Toolgun still works, you just get errors, I'm sure he's already fixing it anyways.
He didn't prevent you from using a custom background. He just replaced yours with the update, so replace it back.. duurrr.

Why do you think he's updating it?
Because valve has some clause in his steam-contract stating that he must update once every two month just to annoy the crap out of people?
No, he does that to make the game better, more stable, for you.
Surely, it might not always seem to work, but he updates it in your interest.

And it's not useful, what the hell is that for an argument?
Changing the way render targets are loaded has decreased load-times with an insane amount.
Adding shift and ctrl to no-clip have made precision building a lot easier.
Two examples which both broke gmod/wiremod.

Updates can break stuff, get over it.

I would like to say that Garry is losing his interest with Sandbox. He was moved onto custom gamemodes such as Fretta and others. He rarely even updated something for sandbox. This is the most recent one I have seen that something was updated for sandbox (toolgun screen update). I think this is all bullshit and that steam should give people the option to update. Or give a version selection. I know this would cause problems with the steam master server but I think it would keep the fanbase happy.

People need to think at both sides of the argument before running their mouth. Garry is just trying to make the game better yet if he breaks ONE THING, ONE GOD DAMN THING, everyone like you thinks he's a stupid asshole that don't know what the hell he's doing. But I'll tell you something, you do it better. You update this game without breaking a few addons that, I might add, are not made nor supported by Garry and he has NO responsibility nor is he bound to keep these addons working. He does everything he can to make the game itself a more stable and fun game. If you want to bash him for something that he doesn't make then your the one that is the "asshole". Don't yell at Garry if something is broken by an update. He will either acknowledge that he has made a mistake and undo his update or you can let the developers of the addon fix it. He doesn't code any of the addons that we use so why should he be the bad guy that breaks them? Like, for example, I remember when he made Garrysmod.org use torrents. Everyone complained about it. The world wen't to fucking hell because he changed it. All the little kids that have no brains at all were saying "Arn't torrents ilegal?! OMG!" and the other people that have no networking experience were saying "But torrents are so SLOW!" But Garry stayed to his change for a few days until he finally gave in and switched back. I like the torrent way because instead of linking a person the page I could send them the 1kb torrent and they can download it.

In conclusion, get over yourself. Garry is not your puppet, this is his game and he can do what he wants with it. Don't complain, do something about it.
