Lightbulb Wire-War, or something like that.

I apologize if this idea has already been pitched before, haven't seen anything like this anyway.

So anyway, I have an idea for a new game mode. It's pretty simple, two teams, defenders and attackers. The defenders will try to defend something, and the attackers are trying to do the opposite. And to their disposal, the have anything you can build with wire. I'm thinking turrets, command centers with radar, airplane bombers, apc's, human catapults for those nasty walls etc. Ofc, everything except the world is destroyable, and wiring can break if you move the components to far from each other, so if you want something movable, you'll need a radio.

There should be two classes to chose from, builders and fighters. Before the game starts there should be a 15 min prepare round to build stuff. Everything should have a spawn limit, except gates. No teleporters/hover drives. The radios should only have a few channels, so you can't jam every radio channel. No adv. dupes, though you can use your own E2 chips. etc.

I realize that this is quite a big project, but maybe there's something out there.

    Thanks.

Sorry, but I think this is one of those "Wow in your head", but in practical use, as dull as listening to a chess game on the radio.

    "Wow in your head"
The defending team build frantic on keypad lock doors, mobile cannons and a anti theft security system and ofcourse a radar system. While the attacking teams makes attack vehicles and mobile shields.

    In practice:
Defending teams throws down a couple of sniper turrets, and since everything is destructable, the'll shoot whereever the attacking team is coming with within a second. Now the attacking team makes turrets too and in the end it's just a war between turrets and boring crap.

Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice idea. But there should be a serious limit on what to use and what not.
What about attaching prices to the various wire component?

I have been waiting for this suggestion since I got gmod! I like it as it is.

Put a limit on the ratio of RPM, damage, and accuracy on the turrets. Put a limit on damage and radius of wire explosive. When doing this, think of Team Fortress 2, only engineers would get Wire stools and everyone else has there perks to make up for lack of Wire stools (This makes sure that the game is not dominated by Wire masters). No Advanced Dupelicator and lmited regular Dupelicator. Turn fog on so radar is a must have. Can we have wind back so, Wire missiles are not so freaking accurate? The game could be a type of CTF, or something completely new and exciting. Sorry about my rambling lol.

Yes l3ulletje, you make a good case, I have already predicted that this would happen if you don't have some sort of limit to what you can spawn, currency for example. Forgot to bring it up in my original post though :P Nice call on the fog Koolguy007, hadn't thought of that, but a very good idea. And as you said kool, only builders can spawn components and wire stuff.

There should also be a limit to turrets, bullets maybe? So that you can't use one turret forever, it needs maintenance.

I don't think turrets would be very hard to destroy, since all you have to do is to shoot at the plate holding the chips and it doesn't work. Another useful item will be the radio, since some stuff may be using a radio, and you could jam that by transmitting on the same channel.

I think that overall this would be a good game mode. Because I don't think you would be able to make a super weapon, if you can build one thing, you can also build something to counter that.

Would be cool but it would become obviously unfair due to there being people who can write expressions and people who can only say wire a button. Also, things like expressions, GPUs, and CPUs would be very unfari because not everyone can write those and the people who can could just load older expressions and make a turret or something within 2 minutes.

If all the flaws can be worked out, this gamemode sounds awesome.

and would it not also be unfair do disallow expression? like me, i have no idea how do to anything with chips really, but i can code an expression to come to your house and steal your food, it think, if people can't write expressions, then they don't have to they can wire, but you shouldn't limit what people can and can't use. if they feel hard done by by not being smart enough to code, they could learn, why put smart people at a disadvantage?

Expressions/CPU's should be limited to 1 or 2 per player however i feel. As with even just 1 expression you can create a swarm of deadly turrets.

Sounds good with the idea that everything costs, and expressions, cpu and gpus are the most expensive ones.
