    Default The ultimate commanders chair

I had a dream today, and most of my great ideas comes from dreams, and this night I dreamed about me modeling a commander chair in the style of startrek federation chairs.

Now the model was just one step, the chair had several buttons and three screens modeled (two small one wide) (the small ones on the left seat arm things and the wide one on the right, several buttons and lights around these)
and while sitting in it you may aim at any button and press some button like, R, button would activate and send out a 1 in the output (about 5 buttons and 3 toggle switches to be modeled on). You aim and can use the buttons as you wish, every button has a modeled led to indicate if it's on or off.

The small screens would be limited to a range of -99 to 99 in values (or numbers won't fit) the wide screen on the right would have a title and a range of much greater.

Yes. This would be the ultimate command chair, the crown jewel, the most complex chair ever made.

I hate to be "snappy" as some people have said, but these kinds of threads never go anywhere.
First of all, this can ALL be done in garrysmod. and very easily to.
IIRC the spacebuild model pack has a model similar to what you are asking for, just attach screens and buttons for effect.

What you are asking for is a custom vehicle... and OH GOD those are hard to make.

Meh, if you do it in garrysmod you can throw some GPU in there for more fun. :P

I can model it, I got several years of experience.

I can't compile it, nor can I code it.

The part with the buttons you can do. Wire a CV of 1 to the allow buttons input of the adv pod controller, and click on the buttons. If you want to know WHERE you're clicking, either hook Crosshairs to a pulser gate (look in the tutorials if you don't know), or you can write an expression.

Compiling is easy, hop on the irc and send me the mesh and ill compile it if you want. I know a few other people that can do that but i'm not volunteering anybody.

However coding in a screen and buttons and fun stuff... its not fun.

It's surprising how sometimes, people really underestimate how versatile Gmod has gotten. A lot of progress has been made with wire, so what you're describing ought to be totally possible with a little creativity, even with just the tools on this site. I'm not sure it would be "the most complex chair ever made", but it's definitely not complex enough that you need enlist a team to make you a custom vehicle.

Never said it wouldn't be possible, if I knew it was not possible I wouldn't post it.
And it would be the most complex chair as I haven't seen any chair that you can do anything else than sit in it

I'll join iRC and get started on the modeling

I don't think you understand what I mean by "possible" - I meant specifically, possible within the game itself. I could be misunderstanding how you described it, but it ought to be buildable with standard props and wire tools, like any other contraption.
