Hey there, let me start by saying this mod is god damn spectacular.

I just thought I'd suggest something that would be useful: making "Plug" sockets able to recieve variables, and then sending them on to the plug that's connected.

For example, I'm making a battery, which will power a device that's plugged in until a value reaches zero. When the value does reach zero, I need to send a value back into the plug to the other end to tell the device that the value in the battery has reached zero, and the power is depleted.

I hope this makes sense. I know a workaround is possible, but this feature could be used for many applications.

Once again, awesome mod. Much respect.

That would be awesome! In fact, I suggested something like this not too long ago, but it was shot down. with this quote,

"wire mod is for information, NOT for electricity, the plug is like a USB mouse, not like an electric wire!"

but i really hope to see this. my idea was if i could build a generator that would power things like lights and draw bridges. your idea seems a little more complex, all i wanted was to be able to reverse the direction on the signal, from plug to port, to port to plug.

Hey, thanks for the reply woodchuck.

I can see where a dev would be coming from wanting to avoid turning wire into another life support or something, but it should be made clear that the applications of sending data backwards and fowards through plugs could have amazing implications for the complexity of data that can be transferred between two points.

In response to the quote you mentioned above, I would like to think that the plug could be a more complex USB device than simply a mouse. The plug could be anything from a USB storage device to a CAT5 cable if it could send data in both directions.

For more complex data sets, perhaps the plug could have A-H values so that one plug can transfer a large amount of data.

try using the data transferer i will look at making the plug 2 way but atm the data transferer is 2 way 8 value and is working fine so use that and il look at the plug.

Hay! I already suggested this, in addition to allowing it to send more then 1 value both ways, and having a smaller plug model.

He's lying, Tomato. He's only thinking of doing it now cause he loves me and wants to have my babies. In any case, thanks for looking into it tomb, I'll give the data transferer a try in the mean time!

I think it's just about time to make that a signature...
