I was thinking, whats preventing the use of the normal single player save feature in multiplayer? If I remember correctly, all it does is save the position and everything of every object on the map. Now I'm not saying this should be used as a regular tool, but it would be cool if the admin or a script would save the server every few min so if it crashes or whatnot, everything is safe. Have a auto clean up with it so if the player doesn't show up within 5 min to claim their stuff it gets cleaned up.

Not really a wiremod suggestion, but that would be cool.
I would love to see that turn into reality. What if it has its own control panel where you can load auto saves and make maps saves plus chose whos stuff does and does not spawn.
uhm, i thought you shouldnt use save when you do wired things because it does not save wire stuff properly... but if it does, ye that would be cool.
btw, someone said you could copy the whole server to another via that lua socket thing. would be one way to work it out, but probably connected with more disadvantages then with advantages... just a suggestion, im fail with lua
I wrote something like this once, prop-only though. It wouldn't be too hard to mod the adv dupe code to grab all the ents.

It could be a great idea for servers to have something like this, but it would suck if someone makes something that crashes the server and then it auto-saves that and keeps reloading that save and crashing the server.![]()
Source engine save feature is broken. It does not save lua, and it does not work at all most of the time. When it works, it breaks everything in a totally bad way.
This means the idea wont work, usually problems like those are never fixed. But if this COULD work, it would be great. I have to turn gravity off everything in my engine to get it to work right after duping, and even then it still doesn't run 100%. A save would mean it would work 100% every time.

No way! Only good way to save is to save as a VMF, VMF's never break.
