Pull it out with a physgun or grav gun. I don't mean some massive smartweld radius thing, jut weld the props that the plug is constrained to to the props that the socket is constrained to.
And I like the idea of a "Disconnect" input for plug or socket. It has already been done in spacebuild.
Oh, and I think that rvdm has good ideas but they may be a little too complicated. That servo thing would be awesome.
Grabbers can't be used because the plug won't line up when they grab.
In the mean time, I'm only asking for stronger welds.

lol, i just made a plug connector accompanied by 2 forcers and a latchweld
the latch activates when a signal is being send through the cable
works like a charm, when i press the button the device gets "ejected" so that solves the problem of having to push a button and pull a device,
it also saves you a lot of yanking on your precious contraption!
The eject input (as far as I know, from off the top of my head) shouldn't be too difficult to do, but I've no idea about welding the attached props... parhaps a better idea would be to output the ent ID of the socket the plug goes into, then add to the weld latch an entID input?
That way, we make both tools more useful (dynamic welding for a weld latch, and solid linking for a plug)

That sounds like a very good idea. I especially like the idea of dynamic weld latches. However this would have to tie into prop protection systems so you dont get minges with like "Sticky guns!" it aims at ships and freezes them to world. But other than that I say go for it.I would help but thats a bit out of my range ATM.

I have implemented this idea. My plug has the following features:
- Automatic snapping of prop attached to the plug
- Welds the prop welded to the plug to the prop welded to the socket
- Ability to control breaking strength of welds
- "Eject" input to disconnect plug by wire
- Ability to apply a force to the prop when ejected
- "Connected" outputs
- Advanced dupe compatible
Note that it only works with ONE prop each welded to the plug and socket. Also, there may be bugs.
Spawn a 1 x 1 plate.
Rope all your things to that.
Save.
Paste.
Remove 1x1 plate.
