ok the problem i see with multi wire is that u can only link many outputs to 1 input. im saying with this system when u "load" chips into the wire all the inputs and outputs are shown for the selected chips (may be R to clear out all selected chips) but once there loaded into the C/Q menu then you should jsut able to left click the inputs to the outputs on the "ports" shown by the circles in my diagram so this would speed up the wiring process since you dont have to go back and forth between chips to wire many outputs and inputs
Example time
Ok you load in the 8 segment decoder and you load in the 8 segment display both using the right click button then entering C/Q menu you have a diagram of whats loaded into it. Then you can simply left click A to A B to B ect making it much faster then going to the display left clicking going to the decoder and clicking then right clicking until you get to the right output/input. Im saying you just need to click away as on diagrams they should all be display right in front of you.
Explained in diagrams 1.

First when loaded the 8 segment display and the 8 segment decoder they appear in Q/C menu.

We then left click on the input

We then left click on the output

Then a wire is created for us shown by a connecting link on the display. This should also show already attached devices that are not loaded by changing the colour of the input

Then we link up rest of the inputs to the outputs but as you can see from above it may need a clean wiring system scripted into it.
Sorry these diagrams are not the best of quality but there just to explain a method rather than a show peice.
