Thats only old analogue oscilloscopes, modern digital ones don't have any of those problems (assuming you've got a spare couple of grand), you can even pause themAdjustable fade rate would be cool though.
Oscilloscopes are basicly Cathod ray tubes. As such one would think that for large jumps that the line drawn wouldn't be so bright?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathode_ray_tube
It works like this:
if the oscilloscope is pointing at one point and staying their we have a bright dot, bright enough to have glow around it that will fade kinda slow (we have to slow the behavior down because wire mod isn't this fast). If the oscilloscope makes a line from (1,1) to (-1,-1) or from (1,-1) to (-1,1) then the line will almost be completely invisible.
In addition the oscilloscope should have its input for on off changed. Instead it should work like so: 0 would be no light (and off) 1 would be like having the oscilloscope behave like i described, and 2 would be like having it behave like it currently does (only with the oscilloscope not moving still generating a bright point). This is for maximum intensity. And this input would accept values from 0-2 so you could go with 1.5 and have fairly visible lines going from (1,1) to (-1,-1) and completely bright slow moving lines.
That should make the oscilloscope a little more fun.

errrrrrrr....
pause light emition??
wtf...
a cathode ray tube
CATHODE RAY TUBE
CATHODE ELECTRON EMITTING, RAY FORMING, LIGHT REACTION TUBE.
you cant pause that!
also technically these arnt problems, their cool .)
*Points remote at CRT TV* *Turns it off*you cant pause that![/b]![]()
Many aspects of Garry's Mod are hardly the pinnical of realisim.
not many people know how CRT tvs work im gonna assume then... right im not gonna educate you, just gonna say:
when you turn your CRT TV's off and it shrinks to that white dot? Thats the magnets powering off before the cathod stops emitting electrons, the excess ones arn't effected by the powered down magnet and travel in a strait line. you can't hit pause when this happens.

New oscilloscopes don't use CRTs, they use LCDs, its a hell of a lot better, but you can never got back, it's like giving up a can opener in favour of a rocknot many people know how CRT tvs work im gonna assume then... right im not gonna educate you, just gonna say:

As for tv's, i do kinda have a degree in electronics + media technology, so i know a hell of a lot about every aspect of tv from making programs, to pal coding, Manchester error correction, colour compression, scanning..... i could go on![]()

? whats that?Manchester error correction[/b]
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

It's a way (amongst others) of encoding a clock and data into one serial digital stream. Its used in various places in digital tv, mini dv in particular uses it. This diagram sums it up what is does pretty simply:? whats that?[/b]

El oh el.
I've actually seen this picture before, but only because of that binary sequence.
