Thread: 2 sexy things for Wire Thruster / Vector Thruster

    1) Variable amount/size of flame depending on power. Why should thruster without output of 100 have same flame as one with 100,000?

    2) Altering sound effect, again, depending on amount of thrust being applied. Perhaps code in the Adv. Sound Emitter for altering pitch could be useful....?

Just imagine the thrusters starting with a little puny flame and silly sound effect and it turning into a roar and giant flame as you turn the power up :P

I personally don't like my thrusters showing effects or emitting sound.
If I would want that i would just use the advanced sound emitter.
But a good thing to suggest would be a wire advanced particle emitter.
Or how about a normal wire particle emitter.

ok. Andy if you want to make suggestions please keep it in one thread. 12 threads wont make us do it any more than one so please keep the forum tidy.

It wasn't quite 12, was actually closer to 4. And yes, I'm fully cognizant of the fact we should create a single thread if we're submitting a large number of ideas at the same time, hence "bunch of ideas" thread.

OK, I have 3rd suggestion for the thrusters, but I get the feeling it may not be possible or could be difficult. I'll give it a mention anyway......the idea is to have dynamic skins/materials on some of the Wire components (starting with the thrusters). For example, with thrusters, the skin would give the impression the nozzles were opening/closing depending on whether power is being increased or decreased and with the vector thrusters, the skin would change to give the appearance that the nozzle is actually moving. Is this possible? Anyone else like this?

Theres is one reason why that may not happen: if you wire a speedo to a thruster, it used to make a whole lot of lag when they were moved, the thruster var was being transmitted so frequently. More than 5 sets of those would almost halt all umsg being sent from the server (all infos would stop getting updated).

But it would look cool. If it gets added, it'll be a new effect called "Vary Flame" or something.

Wire particle emitter? Never heard of it. I can't wait to try that out when I get back home from school.

When it comes to the sound, just use the adv sound emitter. You can use Robbis' particle emitter stool, but it doesn't let you save.

    Edit:

You could just save presets and rewire them, though.
