    Thumbs up

Something I was considering, that it might be possible to make the various gates and physics tools require the 12v power resource out of LS2 Gas. Without power, the component would be 0 on all outputs. It would be more realistic for those that want it. Energy out of the base LS2 system I'm equating to 110v AC, vs the 12v DC.

1 12v resource per chip (encouraging use of the expression chip perhaps)
X amount for the thrusters and forcers and the likes, based on the amount of impact it has on the target/welded items.

A short cut might be that a chip can draw it's power from a PCB board, if the board itself is linked into the resource system already.

Something like this was already done for the hover drive, it just needs to be turned on in the console.

    Your thoughts?

well thing's already fun off of "power" persay... energy.

but maybe making wire circuts that only work with energy, and take up a certain ammount based on how many lines of expression/gates it has to go through would be cool.

I suppose it might be possible to require 21v for those with LS2 Gas, but those without, default to 'energy'.

The thing that I'm a bit woried about is if that's the case, with adv dupe, moving a construct from server to server might cause issues since the power source would change.

12v -> energy - Energy consumption goes way up.

energy -> 12v - None of your wire component will work then.

I'm not sure how to address this issue.

Maybe they could be a second set of gates, that all duplicate the first except for the power requirement and listed under life support as oppose to the wire tools.

Edit: Just had the idea that you only would really need a LS2 version of the expression chip, since it seems to be able to duplicate all the others.

Or you could make use of the wire support tools (look under addons, last page of the related thread has an updated version that works with RD2, although only the resource taker works right now), and use them to have your wire system use energy, and stop working (through a code part in your E-gate) if you don't have enough to meet demands, downside is that it doesn't support 12V-energy at this current time, but I could try adding it if enough people want it.

That is untill someone makes what you're asking .

Actually... I think you missed the intent behind the suggetion, though it's just a near miss. The idea is that if you don't have power, at all, then electronics won't work. It's the same as if not having enough disk space or not having a disk at all in your machine. the first case, some things might not work. The second... well, you got a dead computer. I'm aiming for the second example.

You were close, I hope that clarified it a bit.

Edit: got to thinking abot this, and I think the only reason why I'm not too keen on it is that it depends on players being honest enough to use it, and as a sysadmin... I don't trust users. So I assumed they won't do it.

I understand, and I was only sugesting it as an intermediary system (and you're right, it's not something you can enforce on users)
