What's wrong with Wire radio or satellite dish?![]()
In my quest for fully automated trains, I ran into the problem of sending data from trains to switches, cranes, etc... With some well placed grabbers you can generally get 2 data transferrers to line up, but only 1/4 of the time, with the train stopping
Would it be possible to have a (hopefully still 2 way) data transferrer bar/plate? Trains running at (very) high speeds could pick up or send data to switches (etc...) while on the move.
Also: I haven't looked into the LUA for this, but could all the outputs of the data transferrer go to 0 when it looses the read link to a corresponding D.T. ?
Not sure if this is possible, but hey

Hey, look! It's a tutorial on using LuaInterface! It's outdated on a dead programming forum! Even better! I know!
Yeah, Satellite dish is perfect unless you need two-way communication. In which case, you could just put another satellite dish in.
Yup thats what the dishes were made fore. Making communication easyer when things were either really far apart or when they are moving fast.
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.

You could also do this with the area readers in Wire Keycards >_>
I want to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.
You can also put the data transfer part on a horizontal axis, no-collide them and have a plate where data transfer should end.
Where...Code:******** /^^^^^^^^\**** <== TRAIN FFS! ****** /____________\ -> - <- OO****** OO******|
"->" is the track sender/receiver
"<-" is the train sender/reciever
"|" is a plate to prevent transfer beyond that point.
Remember to no-collide with everything on the transmitters and stop plates.
Where are those, I've never seen themYou could also do this with the area readers in Wire Keycards >_>[/b]
Thanksworks
Now about the non-persistent values...
