Beacon Sensor, Target Finder, that kind of stuff. You can use them, can't you?
So I was trying to make a fort that opens for certain people, and I had to make them use a keycard and use the keycard reader, but an RFID would make this much easier.
An RFID is Radio Frequency Identification, also known as those white things on boxes in stores (anti-theft device). So this would be good if you could implant one in a player (yes they do have those in real life, RFID implants), so that only players have access when within range of the radio receiver. That is how they work in real life, where a receiver detects when one is nearby, which makes a good anti-theft device. The anti-theft idea is good for Gmod Stranded, so you can make sure no one takes your resources. So there are 2 types, active and passive. Active ones are target and require a power source, and only last 5-10 years. Passive ones are smaller and don't require a power source, so they last forever. The active ones have a much bigger range though.
So I was thinking you could set the id of an RFID chip and implant it in a player, prop, vehicle, or anything else, then the transmitter would read the id and output it, so you could use an expression gate to tell a door to open when someone is near it.

But those dont have specific player identification have thay?

92% of teens have moved onto rap. If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature.
98% of teens smoke, or have smoked before in their life. If you are part of the 2% that hasn't/doesn't, copy this into your sig.
It ain't broken, it just lacks ducktape
Not as of yet, but i beleive i've seen some talk about updating the Target Finder to target Steam ID's, and player name, may just be media hype, but that's probably the next step, there's already prop and NPC filters.
Wire Keycards will eventually come with a Keycard Wallet, where you can store your keycards on your person so you don't have to lug around these props. Since each card comes with a unique CardID, it's sort of like RFID. I'm waiting for Wire 2 to come out before doing more keycard development.
Although this doesn't solve the problem of uniquely identifying vehicles, props, etc.
I want to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.
Let's not have a new world order inside the game as well. But tags for objects? Yeah that'd be cool.
Would having an area reader as well as a beam reader suffice? That and the keycard wallet, of course. I'm thinking area readers can passively read your cards, and for beams you'll need to take it out and swipe it.
(I hope I'm not hijacking your thread.)
