Inspired by the thread "Voice stuff", why not allow wiremodders to stream a video feed and display it on a wire screen?
Ideas for the supported stream sources include:
for clients:
* Your our webcam
* Some pre-recorded stream, e.g. a .wmv .mpg off your harddisk
Practicality says that this will almost not work due to the bandwidth requirements, but i can dream damn it!
for server-side:
* Some feed that is distributed from the server, this will probably have the same issues as the "client-side" stuff
And now for the mild ingeniousnesses:
* Stream crap from places like YouTube; this way the stream is independent of the server and mostly of the client. In theory this would just be like a "plugin" for a browser.
Of course the only practical application i can currently see for this is turning the multi-coloured room in gm_construct in to peep show booths for streaming stuff off pr0ntube.com, but surely this is justification alone to have some write the addon/DLL/get garry to completely re-code GM10?
Like that's going to happen.
Grammar is the difference between "helping your uncle, Jack, off his horse" and "helping your uncle jack off his horse".
I dont think its posible to render a prerecorded video with a sound as a texture in source(yet).

Not to mention the strain it would cause on the server if it were possible.
I cant see any (child freindly) reason why this would be used, even if it was possible.
Common sense no longer applies.
Yeah it woud but its a good idea. Not to mention the strain it would cause on the server if it were possible.

I forgot to expand my previous post a little:
I agree, it's a very good idea, but as I said, I can not see why it would be needed, and what would there be to stop someone streaming child porn over GMod? Ok, that's a little extreme, but you get the point.

What about a kind of filter the server owner can set?I forgot to expand my previous post a little:

Like Google Images' kind of way of filtering swears porn and all of it. So the server owner filters porn but not swears, vice versa, and also filter both of them. And maybe even a check box to set Site Filters - So the owner can pick what sites are allowed to have movies stream from. Also another setting, 'Allow Client Streaming' to choose whether or not clients can stream their own movies to the server. More on the filter:
The filter would, if Allow Client Streaming was enabled, search the client's movie's filename for things like 'hotsechs.avi' etc..
Also if the owner wishes to upload his very own child porn movies to his server, then so be it, the owner's IP will be traced and he will be arrested, or something...
I hardly think this is anything the wire team could create even if the wanted too.
This is something you'd have to take up with Garry on his forums.
Ok Cruor we get it, you don't like the idea. And it good etiquette that if the poster (me) has already a) pointed out the ideas short comings andI hardly think this is anything the wire team could create even if the wanted too.
This is something you'd have to take up with Garry on his forums.wasn't serious about this idea in the first place - then it's a tad redundant to post the obvious.
