ok here is what i wan to do i want to make a screen of some kind that will have a picture of the map from a top down view and on that it will show stuff like people as dots or locaters.
i have no clue how to make this. i think it need a target finder that connected to something to out put the targets gps position. then some how display this on a screen over the top of a picture. the picture will probable come from a cam over the map.
spease help me this would be so cool. this is looking like it may need some exspetions gate and i have no clue how to develop them so if you have any idears post them i will post the finished product here when it work.

That sounds pretty good, but you would be much better off with a 3D Holoradar. However, it would be a nice addition to readouts in a command center along with the standard holoradars and things.

no i think this will need to be flat on a screen for what i want and holoradar cant show the map picture on is that is why i wanted it on a screen. it would look like a screen with the picture most likely from a cam up in the sky. and on the screen will also be dots of say red, they will be on people npcs and locaters.
i think the hard bit is makeing it useing a target finder work out the gps position a the target and getting it to desplay it on a screen

Simple solution (but one I would kind of like, come to think of it...) would be to make miniature versions of the map as objects and then overlay your hologram onto it.

If you want to do this in Wire, you'll most likely have to use the CPU for doing anything of a rendering sort. short of making a depth camera...

You can probably get the GPS coords of players and knowing the size of the map or its proportions you can probably make dots as to where players are on a screen.

And you could probably make a relatively high-quality depth map for an overlay and that would produce the same effect.

But given the relatively limited resolution of the Screens, it would be a blocky picture at best and you'd be waiting for a few minutes as the high resolution depth map is created for the overlay, but you'd only need to do this once.

This would definitely require a CPU

But yeah the short answer is Yeah, its possible and you can do it.

i am both exited with how great this would be and overwhelmed by the amount of work it would take at the same time.

We can make the depth map pretty easily, its just using the CPU for creating an overlay of GPS coords thats hard.

.... Hmmm.. perhaps if we combine 3 systems, one "Hi-Res" depth camera, one cpu for grabbing GPS coords and displaying dots relative to where players are on a square/rectangle map.

And finally one CPU to overlay both of the information.

The only problems i could forsee is that as the GPS dots move around the map would they leave a destructive trail on the screen? And two, would the resolution be high enough to be useful?

    Perhaps if someone made a high-res screen? (perhaps something like a 100x80 or a 100x100? Would be a 10 Kbit screen )

    Any more theory or ideas?
