    Default Vector thrusters

    Hi, i am a bit new to wire mod and i must say most of what i learned has all been "self taught". But when it comes down to wiring vector thrusters i cant seem to get the to go in the right direction, whether im using Laser pointer recievers or Target finders, i cant seem to get the object moving in the right direction, when i wire my X's to my X's and my Y's to my Y's i still encounter the problem of the thruster moving in the oppisite direction of the target, if anyone could offer some help please do. :blush:

    that would probably be due to the vector thrusters are set to exert force in the direction of the vector being set, in otherwords if you would like it to move toward point X Y Z, you must specify a point in the opposite directing (-X -Y -Z) so if your using a laser pointer you must wire the X on the laser pointer to a gate thats 0 - X (subtraction gate where A = 0 and B = X) or use the expression X = -Px where X is the output to the thruster, and Px is the input from the laser pointer reciever.
    I hope this was clear.

    If you want to move to a point, make your vector thrusters move towards (GPS-LaserPointer), where GPS is a GPS device located on the moving object. Obviously, you'll need three subtract chips, for the X Y and Z components.

    It all depends how the vector thruster is setup, if its set to World coords, do as Babb517 suggested, otherwise for Local coords do as AzraelUK mentioned.

    Three subtract chips OR an expression chip with this expression.

    N@Vector
    I@Xa Ya Za Xb Yb Zb
    O@Xc Yc Zc
    Xc = Xa - Xb
    Yc = Ya - Yb
    Zc = Za - Zb

    Made it myself. Wire the a's to the gps that you want moved, wire the b's to where you want it to go, and wire the X Y and Z of the vector thruster to the c values for the E gate.

    Also if you want it to hover a certain distance above the target, do this little change

    change this
    Zc = Za - Zb
    to this
    Zc = Za - (Zb + 400)

    Remember you can change the 400 to whatever hight above the target you want it to be. (and no, I'm not really that good at wire, just get around with some things. (plus I like using E gates when it's simple enough))

    my expression:

    N@ChooseOneUrself
    I@GPSx GPSy GPSz TARx TARy TARz
    O@ THRUSTx THRUSTy THRUSTz
    THRUSTx=GPSx-(TARx-$TARx/2)
    THRUSTy=GPSy-(TARy-$TARy/2)
    THRUSTz=GPSz-(TARz-$TARz/2)

    nothing special

    No, my method is for world coords.
