Drone Ecology - The Circle of Life

Worried about cleaning up after a long day playing around with your drones? No need! Drones now clean up themselves!

When a drone runs the Spawn action, the new drone is produced entirely from new components that the parent drone creates on the spot. No more need to have prop piles lying around and cluttering up your yard!

If the unfortunate should occur and a drone is damaged, new components are created by the friendly nurse drone to replace those destroyed or lost.

"But wait!" you say, "What about parts that aren't destroyed but are replaced anyway, or drones that aren't repaired?" Well, the drone ecology has that covered as well, as the rich drone automatically seeks out the sick, the injured, and indeed, the deceased, and silently drags them off to a hidden storage area, without even so much as spoiling your view with a silhouette. Perfect for keeping all your scraps in one place and keeping your lawn tidy!

You make it sound like this is easy... I sincerely doubt that.

[characterBreak]There's a few ways to do it, actually, the repair system is already in place for the most part with the Hephaestus drones. But getting the unseen drone to pick up busted drone parts is one of the trickier parts.

One way to do it would be to have the parts recolour to something specific after detachment or drone death, using E:getConstraints() and E:setcolor on a loop through the resulting array. This works for the latter, but the former would require more expression chips.

The way I consider it at the moment is a checklist. The rich drone gets the co-ordinates of an injured or deceased drone from the alert message in the chat (Like Athena, they get the full list for each drone), then goes over there and checks all surrounding props. A ranger gains the entity of the prop, and from there E:getConstraints() can be used to get whatever's attached to it. Then, it runs a check against all the parts in a given drone and if the part measures over a certain percentage of the drone (Ie. the likelihood of it coming from said drone is high enough) it drags it back to it's stockpile.

The checklist method basically uses the E:getConstraints() array as a form of pattern recognition, or foot printing[/characterBreak]

Why store spare parts when you could make a deconstruction/rebirth factory? (for damage the repair bots cant fix)

    Dear concerned,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the hoarding protocol of the Hades-type drone.

Firstly, allow me to state that initially such an institution as a "deconstruction/rebirth factory" was heavily considered for the ecology of our drones. However, following the incident at Valhalla Incorporated involving their Midgårdsormen prototype, it was deemed too hazardous to include a mechanism for rebuilding drones to such an extent.

Secondly, the parts that are recovered by the Hades drone are indeed dismantled where necessary. However, some parts are kept in state for future usage, such as replacement parts or for display. This future usage is determined by the end user, though some aspects have been pre-programmed into the drone for user ease of use.

Lastly, if you have any more concerns about the hoarding protocol, feel free to contact my assistant, Ms Cheryl Marcus.

    Sincerely, Albert Herald
    CEO of Olympus Technologies
