Don't bother with E1, skip to E2.
Instead of your expression use multiply gates.
Add a logic (NOT) after your forward input.
To the multiply, wire the speedo:x and and logic chip
then wire the VT:x to the multiply.
Wire YZ straight from the thruster to the speedometer.
Use the VT mul input to toggle the whole thing on and off.
Edit:
Try some easier expressions to start with, by the way.
This one was very, very rough.
