    Cool Physical Computer RAM

Yeah, I know that this is easy to do with a simple chip, but I really wanted to try and make it, and see if I could do it. And I did, so yay

It's 10 slot (though this could very easily be expanded), and can currently write values from 0 - 255, though this will also be expanded when I get round to writing the annoyingly complicated expression code needed for it.

    Now, screenshots...

The full thing, including the actual ram, the R/W controller, the display, and the timer that I was using for sample data.

The R/W Controller, which controls the slots, the data from the slots, and reading off the slots. The little array of wiring up to the top right lets it automatically cycle through using a simple accumulator.

    The Ram itself...

Mr. Toast kindly standing next to it for size comparison.
    Hope you like it!

    Jonny

Heh that's cool, but do it in binary and you get a cookie. but you could make it store values up to 765 by using Green and Blue also and just adding all 3 numbers up or w/e

The blue stores the slot number so that you can loop through the values. My idea was to use the green to store a multiplier for the red. So you would have Red * Green.

So if you wanted 500, you could have 100 in Red, and 5 in Green. However, coding this to automatically calculate it is hell ^^

I love doing physical representations for memory and data storage.

This looks good, and it's very compact! Nice work! ^_^

If you need some help with stuff like this, don't hesitate to ask around!

The blue stores the slot number? Why? Surely you don't need it as your contraption should know which slot it's on.

There was a reason, but I've forgotton what that reason was ^^

How did u make the disc?? It would have to be a bunch of seperate props, right?

Kai, time to write a lot more expression and get it to finally store a much greater range of values ^^
