Battery Powered Buggys!

Ok, lets take a break from the Ultra Hardcore Programming and get back down to Wire basics... well ok, not so basic but... you know what I mean

Here i have 2 buggys that run on batteries!
Couldn't figure out why nobody gave a save of em yet... so i did it for ya

You'll need the LATEST version of Life Support (1.8c) AND the Resource Distribution Addon (v1.3). Of course you'll need the Wire Support Tools (search for it), and of course Wire SVN. OH! and you'll need the Airboat Seat i think its in GMod Plus.... not sure its been a while... everyone should have it...


One is a normal buggy, nothin fancy just some standard controls, a couple of batteries and a Plug to rechage the buggy with.
The other is the self charging buggy, it just has a few solar panels wired to the batteries to give an extra charge, its good for Spacebuild maps where you can't bring a generator with you.

Controls:

Foward: 8
Back: 5
Left: 4
Right: 6
Boost: 0 (only on the solar buggy)

Included on the buggy is a small single screen HUD that tells you the Speed (inches per second) and your remaining Battery power.

Notes:

- If you exceed 1300 Ips (about 70 Mph!) the solar powered buggy will flip over, the regular buggy will just get unstable.
- If you keep the Solar Buggy around 300 Ips, you can go on for ever and ever and ever Good for long distance drives.

I've given them as a Save File mainly because my dupe was being a little buggy... (ba dum, psh!) so here you'll be able to take a good look under the hood and make a dupe for youself

This the OLD Buggy with standard wireing that would be required just to make it work like its supposed to and give you a reading of speed and remaining battery power.

Now.... on a laggy server that would be a pain... and if something goes wrong (sometimes it does) it would be a heck of a lot harder to try and fix...

All that wireing, is now in just ONE E-Gate.

There is one bug with the resource taker and the adv. dupe isn't saving the Wire connections, its saving the LS connections just fine though... weird... they should prolly fix that... To get you going again there are two outputs that you hook the resource taker up to LST LSR:

LST: Triggers the taker to wire the ON of the taker into this output
LSR: is the RATE the taker pulls out energy, wire the ENERGY option to this output

- I call it Buggy Lite because its only got 1 battery and 1 solar panel.
- The Speed readout displays the speed in MILES PER HOUR instead of Inches Per Second (clocked this thing at 105 Mph just before running into the end of the flatmap!)

i was just thinking, i might actually be able to make the buggys work with an E-gate and ONE of the Resource takers, it would eliminate a LOT of gates.... I'll try it out tonight

Can you explain the expression gate's inputs and outputs? Only two were explained, and I can't get it. I tried to do this for like an hour today but the expression gate refused to work the way I wanted it to.

I might do a battery powered Airplane if i get to it, its a relatively simple matter of creating another button input, and wiring it up right lol.

Wee! I'm having lots of fun on Wire the last few days, I've combined 2 contraptions i've created

I've Combined the Light Buggy WITH the InvisaPad Controler I made. Below is the Adv. Dupe of the buggy with the controller.

Keep in mind the Invisable buttons are set in WASD format so if you move the mouse to Top Center the buggy will go forward, and if you move the mouse to Center Right it will turn the buggy to the right.

I've made the Graphics Tablet translucent so you can see through it to where your going
