    Default Strafing SUAV

    SUAV Strafer - My sixth minicopter, this was made in 2010, not 2009. I released 1-4 and skipped 5 because it is imperfect. Anyway, for those of you who downloaded the SUAV M-390 and liked it, this is an alternative to going is circles forever. This variant of the SUAV is built for strafing (hard mounted weapons with extra firepower). Of course its a Semi-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle so you don't have to fly it yourself; you line up targets and unload ordinance. The downside to this is that the entire helicopter body must be facing the target and therefore there is no bullet drop compensation. The controls for this helicopter are much harder to get used to and it uses every available button. Look at the second picture to see all of the controls.

    The basics;

    Press space to enter 3rd person camera mode. Use WASD and the mouse to aim the sensor. You will notice the helicopter will turn to face the target. From there, all you have to do is fire with left click, R and F.

    Once you get the basics;

    Toggle ground lock (like the original SUAV M-390) with shift. Right click to toggle target lock mode, which will make the helicopter face the last target you looked at (this is good for moving targets). Hold ALT to pitch the helicopter down and move forward. Scroll down to switch between a hovering altitude of 500 and 2000 above the target. Scroll up to switch zoom levels.

    And GDC here;
    This is the SVN checkout link, its not a download!

    And finally here is the link for the SUAV itself;

    I don't understand what the bullet drop compensation is about. Can you elaborate on that for me please?

    Not trying to thread hi-jack but here, this is an extreme example-

    he means that when he aims at a position the turret or heli/whatever accounts for the drop in projectile z depending on distance

    Nice. The rotors on the top and tail are a tad fat though.

    Oh, ok. I didn't know that those weapons had bullet drop, other than the artillery.

    I clicked the link and remembered your post. After looking through the GCX code a while back, I can say that your problem with the shell velocity was because the magnitude of the shell's velocity increases every tick.

    Compensate = (atan(0.008/8100 * Distance*cos(entity():angles():pitch())))

    That's what I use for drop compensation on my stuff. Nobody else seems to use angular equations, though.
