This is my first upload so hopefully this isn't too terrible.
This is a SAVE of a working setup of the Asgard Transporter. Basically I took the Transporter and set it up so it can be used right away.
Now there is also an Adv. Duplicator Version!
Anyways, heres what you'll need to know:
Requirements:Screen shots:
- Asgard Transporter
- Wire SVN (though 1.0 RC2 may work, I'm not sure)
- Life Support 18c
- gm_dorothy - Yes I know its a weird map that few have heard of, but it works very good for this.
- PHX Premium Final Part 1 and Part 2
The Energy Generation for the transporter:
Basic Transporter controls and displays:
Origin and Destination coordinate Displays and selectors:
Manual Origin and Destination Selection:
Directional Reference Plate (Kinda like a compass but for GPS coordinates):
Everything in one shot:
NEW Adv. Duplicator Version
Download here:
http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=16130
Old Version:
http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=16095
Features:Usage:
- Can select targets based on Player position, NPC position, Beacon position, or manual targeting.
- Can transport over 120 objects at once (can be more with the addition of a few more Life Support Storage devices)
- Simple to use for anyone not as familiar with the workings of Wire.
1. Make sure that the Life Support is working right and connected to the Asgard Transporter.
2. Make sure the "Mode" is set to 1 (1 transports players, 2 transports anything)
3. On the left side of the transporter is the Origin and Destination controls, these are based on GPS coordinates and can be configured. The set of screens closest to the transporter indicate the Origin (or, Target) coordinates, while the group further away indicates Destination coordinates.
There are two sets of 4 identical buttons, below smaller screens, these control what the GPS coordinates are coming from. There are 4 different modes that can be selected by pressing a combination of 4 buttons. The modes are:The 4 modes can apply to Origin or Destination but I don't recommend both sharing the same mode (with the exception of mode 4 which controls both independently) as doing so will result in the origin being transported to itself (stays in basically the same place).
- Mode 1 targets the closest NPC and uses its coordinates, this can be used to determine the Origin OR the Destination, depending on which one you've selected it for. (NPCs will only be transported if the Asgard Transporter is in "Mode 2" as mentioned above)
- Mode 2 targets players, this, too can be used to determine Origin or destination, depending on which one you've selected it for. (Players get transported in Asgard Transporter Modes 1 AND 2)
- Mode 3 targets beacons, these, can be used to determine Origin or destination, depending on which one you've selected it for. You can not transport from one beacon to a different one as it only targets one beacon.
- Mode 4 reverts targeting to the manual control board which will be explained in a bit. (This mode is tons of fun if you know what you're doing)
4. There are two indicator lights near the controls that will turn red if the same coordinates are selected for both the origin and the destination, this will not prevent you from firing, but it just reminds you that you won't get very far if you use it.
5. Below the 4 buttons on the left side there are two other buttons (one + and one -) these are for adjusting the Z (or vertical) coordinate. by targeting, say a locater beacon, one would end up being transported inside of it. The plus-minus solves this by either adding or subtracting 25 units from the Z coordinate, this means that whatever gets transported ends up just above the target as opposed to stuck inside of it.
6. Too fire the Transporter, you can either use the red "Fire" button on it, or use the Numpad "Enter" key. Doing this will transport any targets within range of the "origin" to the "destination".
Ok, that was basics, now moving on to the more complicated controls...
Using the Manual Targeting:
Manual Targeting is a little more tricky but very useful once you get used to it, it allows you to pick any point on a map as a target or destination by simply inputing the GPS coordinate, removing the need for a beacon or other tracking means. Here are the instructions for Manual targeting:
1. Select "Mode 4" for target, or destination (both coordinates for mode 4 are independent so you can manually target the Origin and the Destination separately at the same time.
2. Adjust the GPS coordinates on the manual targeting board by selecting the increment you wish to adjust the coordinates by (the 6 buttons in the center) and use the Plus or Minus buttons under the desired coordinate to add or subtract the current increment from the current coordinate value.
3. Repeat for all used coordinates.
4. Spawning a GPS can be a useful reference to help figure out desired map coordinates.
And there you are, have fun!
Adv. Duplicator Version:
The Adv. Duplicator version is basically the same as the save version with a few changes:Known Bugs (SAVE version):
- Transporter and all controls are now in a partially enclosed box.
- Controls have been laid out in a more organized, easier to figure out way.
- Targeting modes 1 and 2 have been switched, now Mode 1 targets players and Mode 2 targets NPCs (this only applies to the duplicator version).
- Add your own Life Support, the Adv. Duplicator version doesn't come attached to any Life support, you will need to connect the Transporter to your own energy source before it will work.
Known Bugs (Adv. Duplicator version):
- Both the Asgard Transporter and the Life Support system don't seem to save correctly (lots of errors after loading). To fix, delete the transporter and the Life Support systems and respawn them. Connect the wires to Asgard Transporter (should be pretty easy to figure out) and make sure that the input Destination Z is directed to the "Add gate" (with the plus or minus 25), instead of the selection gate, otherwise it will bypass the hight adjustment and you'll end up transporting into something.
If you find any other bugs, or can help me fix existing ones, please let me know.
- "Phys_Prop" Adv Duplicator ERROR. All it does is not spawn two of the side plate, should have no effect on functions.

Well, it looks cool, but I really don't want to download a bunch of stuff I don't otherwise need (the map, life support) just to be able to test out your contraption and I'm sure I'm not the only one.No comments? Thoughts? Suggestions?[/b]
Make a video.. I guarantee it will get people more interested.![]()
Awesome. I want to try it out but I don't have anytime.

WIREMOD WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR FACE! BUT IT DOES ON YOUR MOM :shifty:
The map you only need for the save, the Adv. Duplicator file you can use anywhere. Also, I'm not sure if it requires power without Life Support (Much like the Stargate doesn't require power if Life Support isn't installed) so it may work without needing to install that.Well, it looks cool, but I really don't want to download a bunch of stuff I don't otherwise need (the map, life support) just to be able to test out your contraption and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The only things I think you REALLY need are the Asgard Transporter, Wire SVN, PHX Premium Final, and, in your case, Adv. Duplicator.
I'll have to find something to make videos on Garry's mod, I tried one video recording mod but it didn't work. Any suggestions?
Also, my next version will have Laser Pointer compatibility, so you can laser designate targets or destinations!![]()
I could have alot of fun with this
Do you mind if I re-work it a little to make the system more compact?
Sure, I'd love to see what you come up with.I could have alot of fun with this

I designed it with easy modification and idiot-proofness, as well as easy navigation and readability in mind, but if you want to make it more compact (and probably simple) go ahead.
I've made a few modifications for myself for that matter, I made one version as a space station with a Stargate to keep other people from bothering it (using the transporter on a server tends to piss people off so I've found)![]()
