    Talking Mike Dude's HK-Aerial

You have probably seen my HK-Drone. This is the new HK-Aerial (aka Hunter Killer) as seen in Terminator Salvation.

    Update 1 http://www.wiremod.com/forum/contrap...tml#post174328

This is the refrence picture I used:

My HK-Aerial will not have the "open" mode as seen in the above image. I do not remember seeing this mode in the movie either.

These are the pics of my current HK-Aerial:

(left: CakeGuy with his AC-130, right: Grunt with his flying....thing?)

It has an all new flight system, much different than the one used in the HK-Drone. Instead of inputing a desired angle in, then increasing thrust as the elevation drops (hard to see but this is how the drone works) I input a desired forward thrust, and the Aerial calculates the proper angle to rotate each thruster to to get the desired thrust. As a result, the Aerial is MUCH more stabile at high speeds, with little or no dipping as it flys, except for some at very high speeds. While this seems like tirvial Trigonometry, it is, but the hard part is actually getting E2 to calculate Pitch from -180 to 180, instead of 0 to 90 to 0 to -90 and back to 0

I have also made the thrusters work upside down. No, they don't negate the thrust, the thrusters actually can point downward when it is too high in the air and push it back down. With this development, I will be able to make the Aerial do quick barrel rolls, without freaking out or crashing. The HK-Aerial from Terminator Salvation actually does a barrel roll when it is released from the cargo transport and attacks the persuing A-10 Thunderbolts. This will be much the same.

At the moment it does fly, and it has an in-cockpit view. It flys and banks and stuff and is pretty fun, but it does not respond quickly (not quickly enough for me anyways).

My plans are to use a mouse aimed stearing system, that controls similar to how Tenchi's 3D flight does, just, not in full 3D. I will add the 2 turrets underneath it and also add my own missile system.

Sorry for neglecting the HK-Drone thread, I was too anxious to not work on the Aerial, I will try to get a video up for both the Drone and the Aerial soon, as well as post the code for my missile system.

Dude this is so cool... I love flying ur other drone (got it from someone on one of my favorite servers, and duped it giving u credit), and this thing looks sick... you should put a cockpit in if its big enough (looks like it)... barrel rolls will be cool too

On topic, looks amazing, does it ever have issues with stabilization? How much weight can it hold without tipping over?

nice looks, but i dont think you should make it fully 3d mouse controlled. It just doesnt seem like it would work well with this system, i think you should make the turrets mouse controlled and then the actual vtol controlled with the standard pod controls.(that is if you make it drivable which i think you are)

Agreed, you should limit the changing of its pitch and roll as much as possible, unless it's banking around a turn or going up a hill or something. Don't have it become a plane, keep it a hover-thing.

Actually, that is exactly what I did/plan to do. It will only turn left and right with the mouse, the turrets will be fully mouse controlled. It does have some stablity issues when it is going REALLY fast, this thing can hit the gmod max speed, it has some trouble when decending really quickly, it will spin out of control a bit. the Pitch does not really change much at all, and the roll only changes to counter sideways movement.
