    Agreed, Keep upright is for noobs. I never use hoverballs or keep upright. It really adds a lot more to the challange, more depth.

    Anyways, Hi all. I have been really lazy and stuff. I was playing so much gmod that one day, I just didnt feel like playing anymore. Kinda like when Forrest Gump ran for 3 years straight then finally stopped.

    Not to worry, I will pick up where I left off on this soon.

    I plan on making this thing only 3rd person, mouse aimed. I am going to get rid of the cockpit view thing cause its kinda useless and has a very limited view and not so practical.

    Who can't wait for Mass Effect 2!?!?!

    I AM BACK! I took an unexpected 2 month break from gmod. I wont be on all the time because of school, but I should be on a few times a week.

    I have resumed working on my HK-Aerial and have a few new ideas to use.

    1. Flight mode. I am going to make it so that it can fly like a plane when you hold shift, enabling you to roll and bank and fly just like the HK-Aerials in the movie.

    2. Quaternions. My understanding of Quaternions is a little better and I think I can get around all those horrible angle calculations and applyAngForce, replacing them with quats and applyTorque.

    3. Mouse aimed controls. Not a new idea but I have still to implement it. I am not certain how to do this, I want to use a cam controler and have the view change independent of the ship, but have the ship align to the camera. This will be difficult because I want the ship to fly level when in hover mode, but have it fly freely in flight mode. I dont know if I want the camera to lock the roll in flight mode, or only in hover mode.

    If anyone can help with any of these things, please let me know

    I can definetly help you with this. But, because of time differences, I doubt we are awake at the same time (Not entirely sure where North Carolina is, though). You could add me to Steam if you want and we could try to join the same server on a weekend (when I can stay up really late). That or I can just give you a working code here on the forums. Just explain what it is you want

    Couldn't you just calculate the target angle with regular angles, then apply torque to make the engine turn to that target angle?

    Awesome, I would love the help. NC is on the US east coast (GMT -5) so you are 6 hours ahead. This Saturday would be perfect because I am not working. My steam ID is speedstake.

    As for the angles, a few people have given me some new ideas so I will see how those work. Regular angles have trouble with gimble lock so I want to avoid angles.

    I work on it on Disco's Build server now and then. I am actually on the 4th iteration of the expression because I an still not satisfied with the flying, but it is getting there.

    Can we have an old incarnation? I'm interested in how you get the system to work with only 2 thrusters.

    Do you use the e2 to balance the device, or is it just thruster controlled?

    Aren't you happy enough with the HK-Drones? They are awesome enough, lol. But a snippit of the balancing code would be interesting.

    The drones are nice, but this has different mechanics involved. The drone has 3 engines, which allow it to be balanced by normal means. The Aerial, however, has 2 engines, which gives it a whole different set of mechanical problems. This is also disregarding the fact that most people have an even number of engines on their aircraft, excluding the one engine variety. By this logic, the Aerial's E2 script could be compared as the swiss army knife of VTOL aircraft.

    (Besides, the Aerial looks cooler in my book)
