(original map idea by Martin Treial @ D2K5)

This is the official wiremod construct map. It was built to be used with Wire addon. But the actual goal of this map is to be universal build map, feature-rich, but not extensively, be fun for all people, be suitable for public servers (from lag point of view), and also have some things made specifically for wiremod.

This is release candidate version. It means that final version arrives to SVN repository in one or two days, almost unchanged (see list of changes in "known issues").

You can consider this preview for the final map. In case you find some critical bugs, write here.

Map features & screenshots:
Huge size. Map fills entire space available in source engine. It's bigger than rp_subtransit!
Map is half-flat, half-water. You can build both water and ground contraptions. Don't worry, the ground part is almost as big as flatgrass! So you won't really run into free space problems.





Special lighting, which was selected to make your eyes be less tired when playing long game sessions (advantage over fullbrightish maps like gm_flatgrass)




Physic rockets that you can actually launch from a silo situated in underground base. There are also rocket parts, so you can construct your own custom rockets!. Smartsnap required for precision




Silos for rockets. You can launch rockets from underground! Right from the building area.






Space area in top of the map. You can do some simple space-building here! There is no gravity for physics objects, only for people. But people also suffer lowered gravity, so standing on prop does not make it fall! Hello space stations




Complex underground train track system. Hello subway!







Exit to ground track system. The whole train system is interconnected, you can go from one point to another with ease!





Ground track system, which is almost half the size of the underground area, but not less fun!




Overground turntable, and raised track area (it's fun!)




Underground train station, accessible from overground (the exit is right near spawn, it can also be used as ramp)





Huge underground base with lot of building areas!

Primary area:




Obstacle area (obstacles for your contraptions)



Train building area - accessible only by train or teleport. There is turntable here. This area can also be sealed






Misc building area - small room accessible by elevator only. Good to hide from other people, and FPS-laggy contraptions



Underwater construct area - unique building area. One wall is actually a forcefield, which leads you right into water! You can build submarines here - there are two parts. One with half-deep water, and other without water (there is some on the floor). Right now this is defunct area, it's partially broken. Weird reflections can't be fixed either, source engine limitation




Another misc building area - the corridors from it lead to main area, transport tunnels, dark room (previously grass room), and rocket silo launch area (where rockets actually reside before launch)




Underground base consist of lot of areas connected with transport tunnels, most of which can be also sealed by these massive doors




Water piers, and teleports to most of map areas





Funky control tower, with silo controls, and big windows to monitor rocket flight. Accessible only by teleport from spawn, trigger elevator by using USE key





Physics elevator. By default it has counterweight, but you can remove it, and have free elevator. Use it for whatever you want, it will not break! Note: by default it has it's weight set to 50000, you might want to change that with weight stool





Dynamic 8x8 maze area - press use on floor to raise blocks. You can test your navigation bots here - the field is very flexible




Userbars on most of the buttons. Place a Wired User entity on them, and it will point exactly on the button. Useful for making buttons to be controlled by wire stuff!




"Secret" underground base exit, toggled by buttons. It is completly invisible when closed!






Map notes:
This map is speed and size optimized. Map archive is 2MB less than beta1 version, BSP is 6MB less than beta1 version. Lightmap sizes were optimized everywhere on the map.

Notes on launching rockets
I usually thrust my rockets by 4 x 10k or 4 x 20k thrusters (depending on payload), 4 thrusters are on corners of bottom side. Smaller rocket can be thrusted by 4 x 5k. More thrust - the more "stable" it is, with such thrust you don't need stability systems.

Standart launch procedure: put rocket on rocket elevator, elevate it into silo, open silo hatch, launch rocket, close, lower. Rocket elevators can be triggered with USE key.

Rocket storage is over the spawners, you will see it. Press use to eject storage cell, put in a rocket, then press use on it again to make it go back into wall.

Be careful with high rockets, you may break their tops (they are breakable to make ability to put something there, then release by breaking the rockets cargo part).

The 3rd rocket is multistage, you can see some space to put thruster on black circles (they are breakable by the way). You can freeze bottom, and drag top a bit to expose bottom of these circles for more advanced thruster placement.

Notes on trains
Make your center of weight as low as possible to archive high speeds. You can try nocolliding something heavy with world, and putting it under train. You CAN beat 60MPH speed limit!

Known issues (fixed in final release)
Secret exit from construct area, when closed, submerges into grass before it starts closing.
There is some grass zfighting with water bottom in some places.
The light switch in water area does not seem to operate.
