But the laser has to move to hit the right track, so how do you know the length of the hydraulic, etc. Do you just try and fail?
Well, you don't put the laser, you let the cd spin ;D
SO basically the cd spins all the time, and the laser moves the spot all the time.
To write a value put a something on the Value input and activate the Write beam.
How you do it with Hi-Speed, you have to figure out on your own, but I think you should look at the Buffer Ready...

Density is width of track in inches, and it's also length of track in inches (aka source units)
You'll just have to be quick to disable the write ray again, I suppose.
